The track attachment style is so much more sturdy than the single teardrop style. With 2 and 3 year old children, the track will last a life time. Thomas may make the teardrop style track. I can't speak to its strength. I love that they included attachment pieces to use with the different styles. I think that is thoughtful.

I gave to my grandson. He loves it, but since I wasn’t the one to assemble, can’t answer all that, but my son didn’t ask any questions, so sure it was no problem. Good product. And all children love Thomas and his friends.

He was about 8 months old or something, I don't know. Asked my wife. We purchased extra trains for it too. When he's done gnawing on it, he actually pushes the little trains around the track. It's really cute, looking at him trying to work out this oval phenomenon. I recommend it. You'll laugh, you'll cry. It'll change your life. P.S. no splinters.

This track is easy to assemble and provides a sturdy bridge for your child to practice navigating an incline. Colorful "billboard" on bridge gets child excited to bring their trains for a visit!

I never really 'got' the Thomas & Friends brand. The faces and the show just don't ring my bell I guess. But the fact is my two children love the toys, they are a little simpler than many more electronic options, and train tracks teach a variety of motor and planning skills. Also, they make a bunch of different trains to add characters and variety.Unlike the traditional train tracks from when I was a kid, these tracks are just wood. A kid can literally chew on them without much risk. I can step on them without any pain or damage.You do get adaptors for other kinds of Thomas track, which is good because this is a relatively small set. The bridge and road crossing and nicely made, easy to use with toy cars or pedestrians, even somewhat educational about safety.Like many Thomas sets, this one is just on the north side of expensive for what you get. If you get into this stuff, you'll realize the costs do go up quite a bit, and you often don't get a lot of accessories or parts in each pack. the quality is consistent very good, so it's not a huge problem, but it's worth really thinking about because there's so many extra trains and parts.If you have another wooden train track, don't think you'll be able to mix and match. This set is proprietary. They knew what they were doing. But if you do not have another train set, this is an ideal starting train for a very young child. Like most Fisher Price stuff, they just have that extra design thought that keeps them interesting. My daughter can play with this set for hours and hours and hours. Opening the gate, pushing the train, etc.We have some Fisher Price toy cars, but they are a bit too large. This set is actually more compatible with matchbox and hot wheels cars to use the crossing.All in all a pretty good choice.
