Fresh Fruit Fly Culture (Drosophila Hydei) - Praying Mantis Mantid Frog Lizard Food - 32oz Cup

I bought these to feed to my orchid mantis and it seems to love them. They're a little too fast for it to catch though so I've found it's helpful to put them in the freezer for a few minutes before feeding to slow them down. The fruit flies have been living in the cup they came in for a couple of weeks now and seem to be doing fine so they'll keep for a while and don't need to be used all at once.My only issue with this was that shipping took a pretty long time so make sure to order 1-2 weeks before running out.

I was worried that the box being left in the cold would kill off the flies but they were alive and intact when I received them! I would suggest maybe a post of “this side up” and something to buffer the container inside of the box would help on the side because some of the bugs did suffocate in the mixture but not a lot. Otherwise very happy with this product!

My order came 3 days later than originally stated. The substrate was harder than a brick. No fruit flies emerged. I contacted the seller and all he'd say was that the product was delivered. I wrote 2 additional requests for a refund or some remedy and received no replies. This company doesn't stand by its products at all.

Great packaging! The media was mixed well and more like a clay so it didn’t slip over and kill half the colony during transport like some other places I have purchased from. All healthy and thriving flies. Will definitely support again!

It was cold to I thought they were all DOA, but after warming up they were all alive and moving all around.

I’m super disappointed in this culture. I had it for 2 weeks. After it arrived, it was 4 days and my fruit flies started appearing. 5 days later, there were none. I tried to sprinkle some out (because maybe they were hiding at the bottom), so only have 10 dead ones come out. So, i paid $20 for 4 fruit flies. That was an expensive dinner for one tiny jumping spider.I keep my home at a comfy 70 degrees and my home has a lot of moisture in the air. So, I’m not sure what happened, but now I need to scramble to find food for Peter.

**Came back to add that the entire culture has dried up and died...not impressed.No complaints about the product...the fruit flies are exactly what I ordered. However, the box had fruit flies crawling out of it, when I got it. I opened the box to find that they plastic container, was just banging around, loose in the box, and it had two huge cracks in it, covering the whole length of the container. This could have easily been prevented, with the addition of packing paper, or something similar. Needless to say, I am very happy that it was cold, as I was able to collect most of the escapees and then tape up the cracks to prevent further issue.
