Sheaffer Quality 100%!
I purchased this Sheaffer 300 fountain pen to add to my ever-growing FP collection. I've always used and loved Sheaffer writing instruments and stationery, and the 300 is just as high-quality as my vintage Sheaffer pens. The medium stainless steel nib glides across the page smoothly and quickly! The 300 is an all metal pen (minus the grip section, which is resin) and is probably the heaviest Sheaffer I own. I like a heavy pen as long as it's well balanced with the cap posted. Honestly, this is one of the best balanced pens that I've ever used. Especially being so heavy. The pen arrived in a very nice black Sheaffer gift box and included 2 cartridges and an ink converter. I use a converter 99% of the time because I'm a huge fan of bottled ink. I inked the pen with vintage Sheaffer's green ink. A beautiful shade of blue/green! One of my favorite inks! It flows well and is well lubricated. The clip is spring loaded which is a nice touch! If you like thick and heavy pens, the 300 is the pen for you! See photos for size reference compared to other popular Sheaffer models! An excellent value! Highly recommend!

Beautiful, Amazing pen.
Sheaffer has always had a special place in my heart, my Father used Sheaffers back in the 60’s-70’s-80’sAs a child, I remember that white dot on the clip, but never knew the significance. The 300 is a heavy, bold pen that sits good in the hand, a bit back heavy when posted but not a problem for large hands. it looks and feels more expensive than it is.Amazing quality and craftsmanship, and writes so smooth(med nib). buy with confidence with the 300, it’s an elegant, awesome functioning pen that will impress in more ways than one.

Great pen to use but let down by poor packaging
Sheaffer has always come up with good writing instruments. I've had a Sheaffer fountain pen for the last 15 years and its still going strong. I initially bought a Parker Sonnet FP which was a terrible writer and skips a helluvalot!.I promptly returned that one in exchange for this Sheaffer.First impressions are that the packaging is terrible! Its a poorly made in Thailand box. The pen appears new but was wrapped in a dirty plastic. So if this pen is a gift, look elsewhere as the presentation does NOT impress.Moving on, if you buy a pen to write with as I do, then you would not be disappointed. This Sheaffer with medium nib writes very well. It does not skip and is not too wet. My only complaint is that the top of the nib where you grip when you write is made from plastic (as compared to metal for the Parker Sonnet) and feels cheap. Sheaffer could do better by going metal there. The next con is perhaps the weight of the cap. I like my instruments to have some girth to it. But when used posted, the balance is a little off and sometimes feels like its gonna fall the other way. The cap will not fall off the pen - Its well secured once posted. But the balance is off. This is no biggie and I can always use the pen unposted and it still feels sizable and has a nice.weight to it.I won't try any other brands now with this pen. Except perhaps the Lamy. Good pen. Try it!

Looks sharp, writes well
I got the dark green model. It fits well in my hand and the nib was 100% ready to write when I inked it up. (I used the converter that is included and Noodler's Squeteague ink). It's solid-feeling and a good size, even unposted, in my large hands. A very good value.

Perfect gift
I purchased this pen for my husband who loves fountain pens. He said that it feels great when he writes and so far no leakage. He uses it everyday and fines that it is of good quality.

The Sheaffer 300 looks and works like a pen costing much, much more!!!
I ordered the Sheaffer 300 in black with gold trim. The body of this pen is entirely metal, which means it is a very substantial pen. (I believe that others in the 300 line may have resin barrels. Something to consider if you want a lighter pen.)This pen cost me just shy of $70.00, but looks much more expensive. This particular version has a two-tone steel nib. Even though it's steel, not gold, it lays down a nice, wet line. Wet, but not sloppy. The nib itself is basically the same bullet proof nib you'll find on the Prelude and other Sheaffer models. It's a proven design that works well. No skipping. A twist converter is included, so you have the option of using any number of inks available on the market. As I said earlier, it is a substantial pen. Part of that is due to the 300's girth. The diameter is wider than many pens, making it comfortable in the hand. The cap has an articulated lever style clip which can be safely clipped to just about any thickness of cloth without worrying about it becoming sprung. The cap itself is heavy and will make the pen feel top heavy if you post it. (I usually use my pens unposted, so this isn't a problem for me.).It's a handsome, professional looking pen that you'll be proud to bring out at the most formal business meeting.

Nice writing and good looking pen... But
The tip if the nib came slightly bent... It required an angle for it to write properly. I am trying to return it...

Great Buy! Very nice pen for the price
Great Buy!Very nice pen for the price. I wasn't sure about buying it. I have had pens in this price range that definitely feel like they are not worth it; not this one. The size and weight are nice. The feel in your hand is one of quality and comfort. All the hardware fits tightly to the pen. The cap clicks on and off solidly and when you attach it to the back when it is open it also attaches well without contacting the barrel. This is a nice Shaeffer refill which is very smooth. I like it better than my Waterman which was 3x the price.Just be aware that it is not a slim pen. Maybe it was my perception, but it looks slimmer in the picture than it is in actuality. It's more the size of a Waterman Expert or Mont Blanc Meisterstuck. Typical for a pen like this one.
