WHK-0005 Hot Knife Plastic Cutter Tool (Kit of 19)

This is the best hot knife I've used. I've ordered others and they would either fall apart or stop working while using them. I will order at least 2 more to have on hand!

I had seen the review about it breaking on another buyer but I thought it might just be one of those flukes so I bought it anyway. Maybe this thing works well on thin plastic like plastic sheet and plastic folders or such, but it didn't work for cutting through acrylic. The blade never stayed tight in the holder even when I tightened it over and over. The hottest part of the thing is the point where the blade meets the holder. The blade tips never got hot enough to cut on their own. The part that holds the blade and screws in ended up breaking off in the knife handle. Just junk.I don't recommend this and I won't be buying another one.

I got this to carve foam pumpkins that I got from Lowes to put in my halloween light show. They did great. I drew the design with a sharpie marker on the pumpkin and then just used this cutter to slice through it like butter and it did not burn or leave a bad edge on the foam.

Good tool, but the head and knife cones lose when heated. Heats up fast and hot!!

I am not sure who engineered this but they apparently dont understand that metal expands under heat, this iron gets very hot. The metal retaining nut expanded so much the collet thread has no grab. On top of that the collet is so weak that it bends at the irons normal temperature. I know it was cheap but this is just throwing money out the window. Amazon should really take this down as its tantamount to a money grab and a scam.

I bought this hot knife mainly to make more precise and effortless cuts I'm cardboard so I can make things for my cats. It does not cut cardboard any better than just exacto knife.It did however come in handy when I needed to melt through some plastic. It took a while to get hot enough to melt through the tough plastic but it did it...and then left a mess on the blade that hardened and then was impossible to clean.The stand will only function if you find a way to hold the stand down to a surface otherwise it will move around and it's hard to keep the tool on it.It seems to be more useful for thinner plastic cuts.

I ordered this to use with my crafts and around the house. I needed to punch holes into plastic and used this and it worked perfectly. I cant comment on long term use as it once and it worked great to melt the holes into the plastic so I could fasten 2 pieces together. I like that it comes with a few different tips depending on what you are cutting. Heats up quick and is easy to hold.

The product works as described if you're cutting through thin materials like styrofoam or 0.25" thick acrylic/plastic, it works efficiently.However, its not made to cut through thicker materials be prepared for an arm workout or a broken product. I needed to cut through 3/4" inch thick acrylic sheets and it does work if you're moving slowly through the sheet, but can be very time-consuming. Eventually one of the knives broke as I was cutting rendering the product unusable since the screw is stuck inside and hard to remove since it broke at the base.I would have liked to replace it or gotten a refund but the warranty process is more for show and not an actual good measure of rectifying customer dissatisfaction. I did sign up for the warranty, but the instructions on how to get it? Non-existent and not as clear as they made applying for it.
