14 disc box set containing each of the seven series of the Keith Floyd Cookery Collection series. The eccentric but highly acclaimed British Chef Keith Floyd made himself a household name with TV audiences throughout the world by intuitive cooking in odd locations, interspersed with entertaining comments and conversations. Floyd has branded himself a 'gastronaut' to explain his style and approach, and his series consist mainly of travelogues in the realm of food.Floyd Around the Med - Lubricated with olive oil and liberally washed down with wine, Floyd, with frying pan in hand, embarks on a magical journey through the rich and varied cultures of the Mediterranean. Floyd explores the cultures and lifestyles of the local people, meets with celebrities and discovers the history, architecture and gastronomy of the Mediterranean.Floyd on Spain - In this part of 'The Keith Floyd Cookery Collection' the flamboyant chef goes in search of the true flavour of Spain. This series celebrates the food and drink of regional Spain in restaurants and bars, mountain tops and the length and breadth of this rich and diverse country.Floyd Uncorked - Floyd takes a rest from his kitchen and dedicates some time to his favourite hobby as he sets off to explore the wine regions of France. Keith is interested in seeing the local beauty spots, learning the history, meeting the people, eating the local produce, and above all, tasting the local wine!Floyd on Italy - Here, the flamboyant chef and self-proclaimed 'gastronaut' travels to Italy to sample the varied tastes and rich regional diversity of Italian cuisine.Far Flung Floyd - Set in unusual locations, Far Flung Floyd is a gastronomic voyage exploring the diversity of Asian cuisines, cultures, languages and landscapes filmed in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand. With a special esoteric flamboyance, his entertaining demonstrations of food preparation take Floyd to locations as diverse as fishing boats, mobile food kitchens and beaches to the most famous restaurants in the Far East, his guests ranging from local families to national celebrities.Floyd on Africa - The eccentric TV cook travels to Africa, visiting a number of regions. The boisterous and bubbly Floyd cooks traditional dishes from each area using a variety of heat sources, sometimes in surprising surroundings. Places visited include South Africa, Zimbabwe, Madagascar and Zambia.Floyd's Fjord Fiesta - This culinary adventure traverses the frozen arctic wastelands of Lapland, crosses Sweden and Denmark, fords Norway's majestic fjords, and visits Greenland. From herring fillets with dill and parsley to smoked loin of pork in cherry sauce, Scandinavian cuisine is brought vividly to life.

Entertaining and educational
Keith Floyd was without doubt the best at this type of television. He was entertaining, charismatic and had a wonderful slapdash approach to cooking. And, you also get a very informative and entertaining culinary history/travelogue of which ever country he happens to be in. These programmes have taught me a lot and made me a much better cook than I was before.I was initially a bit reluctant to spend £30-plus on a DVD set, but when you consider that you are getting 7 series across 14 disks, it is actually quite a bargain and I enjoyed every minute of these wonderful programmes.

The original globe travelling chef genre - and top of his class!
Keith Floyd laid the groundwork from which many other TV chefs have learned (and earned) to their advantage. He has always presented good wholesome plates of food that I would LOVE to EAT - none of these pretentious towers of food (small portions!) that the first thing you do is dismantle in order to eat - and none of these smears of god knows what fouling the plate in the guise of a pureé or foams which look like they have been twice digested and regurgitated. He has always been my favourite TV chef - a unique character, never far from a good wine (or 30!) - although I do remember a 'dry period', charming but also capable of a hissy fit (hilarious), keen to learn himself from all kinds of cooks from the very well trained to the 'lowly housewife' feeding her family and passing it all onto us - his eager audience. As someone else has already remarked on the single series format 'Around the Med' - each episode still ends abruptly with no end credits - quite bizarre - and this has not been sorted in this presentation. I have marked down from a certain 5 STARS in terms of content - to just 4 for this single reason (to date) which the producers of the dvd set have not rectified. I was almost in some doubt that I had been sent a bona fide copy and not a bootleg - but it seems it is a long standing problem which for some reason the production company have no will to put right.Very much missed - 14th September is celebrated each year in our house with a bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape - not the high end! - to remember all those amazing cooking, travel, social history and local history memories delivered by the unique Keith Floyd - may he RIP.
