GLI Brass Anchor for Safety Cover Cantar GLI 99-20-9100003

These were a surprise in my pool winterization project. The actual inserts have multiple rings and a knurled fairing around the top. Since there is no expansion collar on the bottom I was worried about securing them in the concrete. I expected to use glue to secure them. The top ring's ridges are a little bigger than 3/4". While a few of my 26 holes chipped a little on driving them in, the spalls were relatively small surface chips. Since the concrete is paint ti mimic stone it will not be noticeable. Not only that, the 3/4" cement drill wonders, making the hole have tight areas from the misalignment. You hammer them in to a depth of 1 5/8" and it forms a great press fit. I drilled one hole in the wrong spot and it took a lot of knocking and prying to remove.The inserts are solid brass with a loose coarse thread fit. Even after banging them in and some of them getting warped from the process, they still turned in and out with ease. I found it easiest to drill 3/16" to depth, then 3/8", then 1/2", then 3/4". I was lucky to have sand mix concrete, because it was surface textured. I burned up a 3/8" bit. I would get a couple of each small bit for the job. Also I burned up my cheap Black and Decker Hammer Drill. It would have helped if I took breaks in between holes. Instead I hammered mine out in three hours and need a new drill. A Bosch would have had no problems.Over all very impressed with this product. Delivery was in two days from the afternoon I ordered it. Good outfit to work with.

These have a ribbed top ring (unlike the diagram) to help stabilize in the hole, but they are solid and have been working great. I called GLI Pool Products to confirm they would arrive when I need them by and the owner was very helpful and even shipped them out that day. They were the best price I could find on-line.
