D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths

Great book on Greek Gods for easy reading and good information
My husband, son and I are going to my son's college planetarium for various shows. At the end of these shows, the teacher talks about the constellations and how they are all related to the Greek Gods. I didn't know any of the stories about the Gods. Yes, I knew certain names of the Gods but did not know the stories behind them. I wanted to be more informed so that the lectures on the constellations made more sense. After researching multiple places for a book on Greek Gods, I saw this one on Amazon. It was highly rated. The stories and explanations are simple, interesting and easily understood. The pictures are cute and are drawn for younger children. It truly is a good book for a quick summary on the Gods. Also, the price is exceptional. I'm glad I purchased this book as it has helped all of us to better understand the constellation presentations .

Great combo of stories
I loved reading D’alulares Greek Mythology, this book blends fiction with truth so well that it creates a great series for short stories into a nicely compiled book. The illustrations are also awesome. It’s great ti see the history of Greece through these myths. If you’re fancied by any-type of mythology, this is a must read.

I told my kid about Medusa and it sparked an interest. I got a handful of books from the library and D'Aulaires was by far the winner, even for a young child. The book is a good balance between storytelling, pictures, detail, but not *too* much detail. It covers enough material to tie different pieces together. I enjoyed reading it. We read it cover to cover and started over. I finally bought a copy when we had to return the library book.I withheld 5 stars because the cover shown here is not the actual cover. It's the dust jacket. The real cover is a solid blue underneath. The library's copy had the actual picture on it. I like the blue cover better but having the picture on the cover would have been nice. Dust jackets are impractical when dealing with young children and sight recognition is helpful.I'll give a shoutout to the Mordicai Gerstein books as well.

The best Greek myth book out there
I remember reading this book in middle school and checking it out from the library. Every chance I got. It is by far one of my favorite Greek mythology books. The illustrations are awesome and the story interpretations are classic.

Essential
This is a book I received for Christmas as a child. It’s beautiful and delightful. My children loved it when they were younger, so this year I’m giving my 15 & 17yo their own copies.
