This motor lock is sturdy and well made. Goes on the motor easily.

This is a great deterrent to theft. Something is better than nothing. This stays on the motor always.

This lock is great if you want to add some security to your outboard. But if you plan on keeping it on while you use the outboard maybe look for something else. I have a Mercury 15HP and I’m unable to tilt and lock the motor in the tilt position with this lock installed.

Disappointed. Product seem to be advertised that it would work on all motors up to 60 hp. I have a new Tohatsu 20 hp, and unfortunately it will not fit. The clamps on the motor are too large for the device. Disappointed that I purchased and brought to Tahiti and will return after Amazon’s return policy.

After reading all the reviews, and knowing the rate of outboard theft in the Caribbean. I figured this would be a great deterrent to install on my yachts dinghy. Installation was simple, though stopping the rattling of the 2 plates was far from easy.After a 4 months in the Caribbean, and Southern US coast I went to take my outboard off.After hours of blood, sweat and tears (a can of WD40, a too many curse words to repeat) the bloody thing FINALLY came off.Long story short it was corroded and full of salt (yes there is salt on the ocean !!!).While i applaud the idea, the materials are simply not suited for real life use (maybe lake water boats). They need to be made of stainless steel as the lock AND plates were rusting within 4 months.I think i will put on with zip ties and hope it LOOKS too much of a PITA for any opportunist thieves to attempt to steal.2 stars as it appears to work. But materials for what is clearly its working environment drops it from a full 5 (well 4.5 due to rattling being an annoyance to setup at first).

Went on easy.. it should deter theft. Pretty sure thiefs would need to do some cutting to remove (hope that don't happen)

A very strong and well designed product but for motors less than 5 hp it is just too large. The internal lock is great and If it came in a smaller size I’d pick it up in a heart beat.

When it was new, it worked great. Durability of the lock is questionable though - it worked great for the first several outings but then the lock suddenly fell out of the body while out motoring. I was using this in winter on the ocean, perhaps the salt water and rainy conditions were harder on it than it was designed for, but still overall disappointed that a $50 item lasted only for a couple of months.

Well the lock mechanism fell apart right out of the box. The lock would also be very easy to defeat by drilling out the pin that simply fell out when I opened this package up. Also the foam would disintegrate soon enough, if it didn't fly away... since it isn't secured to the frame at all. Not recommended at all.

Seems to fit and work as described. Can’t see anyone getting thru this without putting a lot of work into it. Doesn’t effect or interfere with my tilt at all. The only thing yet to be determined is how long it will last getting hit with salt water.

Nous avons acheté cet article et une fois installé le verrou a cassé donc impossible de débarrer le verrou à moins de casser le mécanisme.Donc je ne recommande pas cet article. Je n’ai pas pu retourner puisque la période de retour étant passée

Had a hard time getting key in the key hole look like someone had already beat on it with a screwdriver and hammer... finally got it to unlock.... installed it on the boat motor seems to fit ok
