Portage Bay 51451 Chism Ceiling Fan, 52, Gun Metal

I can't tell you how much I absolutely love this fan. The main reason I bought it was because my last ceiling fan was old and became really noisy, which could make it really difficult to sleep at night. First of all, the price was too good to pass up when I bought it. The look of it fits my style. I absolutely love the gun metal color with the gray fan blades. What's cool is that the blades are reversible, so the other sides are brown with a wood pattern. I doubt I'll ever switch them because I love the gray side with the gun metal base unit. It was pretty easy to install and I've never installed a ceiling fan before. I've installed ceiling lights but never a fan, but it went pretty smoothly. The only thing that was a little tricky was putting the blades on the base unit, but it wasn't awful, just trying to keep it from moving while trying to put the blades on was a slight pain. It gives off a really nice breeze throughout my room. I can't wait to use it in the early fall when I can keep my windows open and have my ceiling fan on to keep a constant flow of air through the room. Lastly, and most important is that it doesn't make much noise at all! The only thing you hear are the breeze from the fan blades when it's on high, and it's not even loud, but I keep it on medium anyway because my room is smaller with low ceilings, so I pretty much can't hear anything, which is so nice! I absolutely love this fan and I recommend it for anyone looking for an affordable ceiling fan that looks great and works even better!

I love this fan so much that I ordered 3 more and put them in all of the bedrooms. Assembly was simple and installation was so easy compared to the other two I bought. This fan was very inexpensive, yet it is solid built. Unlike the far more expensive plastic ones I just got for my living room and kitchen. My one con would be that the light is soft white. I much prefer daylight balanced. It's an LED panel, so... its also rather dim. I have to do some research to see if I can replace. It's also not super bright like I would expect a ceiling light to be. Not dim enough to make me love it less. Edit to add: the light is not replaceable in this one, HOWEVER, a new light engine can easily be added and wired in!! I put a much brighter one in one of our fans and it is perfect!

We ordered 2 of the gun metal and one of the bronze. Both gun metal fans are great and went in smoothly with no issues. The bronze fan is more of a matte black than an oil rubbed bronze and the blades are slightly different than pictured - something to keep in mind when color matching (see photo). The bronze fan also had a pretty strong wobble on the high speed only, even with the balancing weights provided. No wobble issues with the gun metal though. This fan is the perfect size for a smaller room, in our son’s room and guest bedroom that are about 12x12 they fit great. It does look a bit small in our master bedroom which is about 16x18 - the blades themselves are a good size but the light part in the middle looks too narrow in this sized room. It’s true as others have stated that the light isn’t too bright- something we don’t mind since we have a lot of lamps and prefer natural light. Took our electrician about 45 min per fan to install. It gives off great airflow however and is very quiet, a great deal for the price and the aesthetic of it is just amazing! Would recommend to anyone looking for a fan, just keep these things in mind!

These fans are really great; i've installed them in two of my apartments that I rent out. They look very attractive, are affordable, quiet, nice light. Really excellent overall. Installation is also easy enough, but the installation instructions are totally backwards how they tell you to install the fan components, making you have to install the fan blades while the fan is already hanging, making it extremely to install the fan blade screws essentially upside down... a HUGE, literal pain in the neck!! Take my word for it... install the fan blades to the fan housing (and the light assembly) before you hang the fan and connect the electrical. The fan blades will go on seemlessly, and its easy to hang the fan with the blades on. It will save you a ton of time and frustration doing it this way.

Overall very happy, looks nice and was moderate/average to install for something like this (husband and I tackled it together and got it done in just under an hour, but to be fair he does construction and has installed some of these before and has some basic electrical knowledge). Only problem I have is that the light is so central and downward facing that it makes it dim, especially if you don't have high ceilings. Not a deal breaker for me because I prefer lamps and candles over ceiling lighting anyway. The fan is very quiet, so much so that we were unsure what speed it was on when we first turned the fan on (it was on high and barely noticeable for sound), but it definitely moves air.

I have no idea how someone could give this fan less than 5 Stars. First the quality build of this product. You can tell right away, even the packaging is done well to protect it in shipping. The instructions are the best I’ve come across...I’ve installed many lights and fans over the years. It has rubber at all contact points so there is no rattling even at highest setting. The look is very modern and the grey matches our floors exactly. (Other side of fan blades is a darker brown wood) The LED light gives a warm and cozy look to a room at night. And the best part...it provides a very low noise comfortable breeze that cools as it should. (other fans spin around but don’t provide the breeze that is actually the reason you wanted a fan in the first place lol) It has 3 speed settings plus reverse for when it’s cooler out and you’re wanting to warm up and circulate the air in a room. As you can tell I have nothing but positive things to say about this fan....I only paid about $90 CAN so yes absolutely blown away by this product.

It was easy to install if you follow the instructions. Works great and looks great. The only disappointment is that I wasn’t aware that there are no light bulbs for this fan. So when the light dies it won’t be replaceable.

J’ai au départ installer le ventilateur avec la tige, mais il bourdonnait beaucoup. J’ai vérifié d’où ça venait et c’est la vibration du moteur qui résonnait sur la tige (rallonge). J’ai retirer la rallonge. Le bourdonnement est 90% moins pire. Idéalement il faudrait mettre un isolant entre le moteur et la partie qui visse directement au plafond sans tige ça serait encore mieux. Pour le reste j’ai été surpris par la qualité des détails pour éviter le bruit justement, il y a des isolants entre les palmes et le moteur entre autre et de petites rondelles pour les visses de palmes pour éviter d’abîmer ce qui les tiens au moteurs. Aussi il y à un isolant à la partie qui se visse au plafond qui sert à tenir le ventilateur. D’après moi le bruit serait facilement éliminé simplement en mettant l’embout de la rallonge en plastique plutôt qu’en métal, et en isolant l’autre extrémité pour éviter la résonance, ou sans rallonge en isolant entre le moteur et la partie qui se fix au plafond. The end result is great as long as you're patient and proper. The instructions are for the most part clear until you get to the triangular cap peice. I'll be the first to admit I put it together wrong twice and the scrapped that peice all together since the craftsmanship was so sleek looking. As you can see by the video. This is a solid find for the $90 privetag. With or without that annoying cap peice lol

I bought this fan for our master bedroom. So happy with how well it works. Lighting is bright and both speeds are great. I used the darker walnut side and it looks like I paid a lot for the fan. Great price, Great product. 100% recommend. I read all the reviews before purchasing and the reviews were great.
