Hydrofarm HGPP400 Precision Straight Blade Pruner are much better!
Update 9/22/2013: I now rate these at 2 stars, because I REALLY like the reach, but they wear out after trimming about 2 small plants. Even Fiskars will get you through about 6 plants. The grommet for tightening wares out and they start to separate, as well as begin to get a bit dull. I will seek out some higher quality long nose trimmers. Sorry guys. It's a one time purchase for me.These GRO1s are very rough out of the package, so I had to use Tri-Lube to get them going, after which they cut quite smoothly. However, after putting the Hydrofarm HGPP400 Precision Straight Blade Pruners to a side-by-side test with these, the aforementioned gets the fifth star! I'm not putting these down. They are excellent for trimming bud; especially clipping long swipes along the edges of the flowers, as well as doing a fine job getting into tight places for clipping out leaf stems/leaves. Will I buy them again? I'm not sure yet. I used to use Fiskars, but their quality has gone from made in the USA (like everything) to Chinese trash (like most everything else). I do like these, but I like the title brand FAR better. Those I will buy without hesitation from here on out, and they can be purchased right here on Amazon. They are twice the price, but worth every penny. Happy trimming:):(

sharp and affordable
Having to cut a lot of plants scissors are very important. These are good for getting into the plant and precisely cutting out stems and leaves. However if you are shaving I prefer the curved for forming around the plant. Same company has both kinds. The straight are good for wires too and small places. I will be buying again when needed.

Nice long nose!
The extra length of these shears make them very nice for getting to the base of the branch before cutting, They work great!OK - now that I've had time to really use these. As mentioned I like the extra length, but the blade gets dull after one or two plants. I also found that 70% of the other shears out there are the same - blades dull very easily - yes, I've tried 5 or 6 brands. Hell, the way things are with manufacturing, there probably all made in China by the same company! Everything is a throw away, use it once and throw it away, how sad!

totally non-functional; waste of money
Don't like these at all. The locking plastic part immediately would not slide back into place to lock them! Very, very cheaply made and you notice it immediately. Not only will it not go back in place to lock it, so that the shears are dangerously left open all the time, but it randomly slides back down part way when you are using them, so that suddenly they won't close all the way, so that you can't actually cut with them! Total fail for a shears. So what if they have titanium coated blades, if they cannot function as a trimming scissor!

Great product, inexpensive
Great product, inexpensive, and ideal for all my gardening needs. Blades don't get stuck together like some other brands after vigorous use (unless you're working with a resinous/sappy plant, you'll need to clean them, and dry them so as to not create rust). Love how small the actual tips of the blades are (and sharp), it makes it very easy to get into hard to reach spots without bending back plants too much.

These were alright
These are alright however I thought the would be a little thinner than these are. The curved pair are thinner and more efficient.

Nice
These are well put together. However the screw comes loose after some good use. They are a little to long for detailed trimming but work great for pruning leaves (I can remove multiple leaves) also very sharp
