Amazing 3D Printer book
Covers all the topic a beginner in 3D printing will be interested in learning. Easy to read, lots of references and links to sites to find 3D print files, etc. Covers almost all aspects of the 3D printing experience.

Great book if you have enough computer knowledge to understand it.
My wife and I both have read it twice. She is going through it again, determined to learn how to make the files for 3D printing. I am 77 and she is 76, still willing to take a challenge.

3d printing is easy, the software is massively graphics heavy.
Definitely for the absolute beginner. I bought my first 3d printer for Christmas, and I needed to get some background and help with design and function. Unfortunately, even though it is a digital book, already some information is dated. Another problem I ran into, and which could have been explained in the text, is that you really have to have a PC with top-notch graphics hardware to make these programs go. I can use Cura without problems, but I have a terrible time trying to use almost anything else, as it locks up my graphics hardware. My computer is about 4 years old, and has an integrated graphics (Nvidia Geoforce something or other) and it doesn't handle this heavy duty programming. 123design is out, Meshmixer won't go, Netfabb Basic doesn't even exist anymore, so I finally settled, after extensive trial and error, on Tinkercad, which is online only, not a download. But, at least it will run on my computer. I have downloaded 123catch, but I haven't tried it yet.I can download things from thingiverse, and print them, but it's a challenge, especially for larger items. The book is a great introduction, definitely worth the expense.

Good but a bit dated
Do not buy this book, rent it. It was well worth the price in 2016 but today large parts on hardware and software are almost obsolete. Core knowledge on modelling etc is solid and very usefull but for 10 bicks one expects more

Great Book, offering lots of practical tips and trick
In addition to the very practical and hands-on tips, the book contains a good overview of printers, tools and software. Really handy for novice users wanting to enter the fascinating world of 3D printing or for those looking to get their pieces to the next level.

This book is good for entry level and experienced users
If you are into 3D printing I would put this on the must read list. Mostly an overview, but some details too. I work w Solidworks and Fusion 360, built and run a REPRAP (Mendelmax1.5) 3D printer and work with a few print services. This book is good for entry level and experienced users.

Good book - I'll probably appreciate it more later
I'm just getting started with 3D printing - and wanted some books to get up to speed with the technology. This book was one of two that I purchased. The other book was Make: Getting Started with 3D Printing - which I found to be extremely helpful reading. This Design for 3D Printing, not as much.I have prior experience with creating 3D models - but that was for CGI and animations - as well in AutoCAD for 2D drawings. So I found this book to be a bit of an overview of a lot of information that I already know. That's not the book's fault. There is a lot of information on the different software available for 3D printing - that will be helpful once I have spent more time experimenting with my 3D printer and have a bit more reference as to what might be useful.
