Awesome book!
My husband and I just became empty nesters and we've had an excellent relationship, but our sex life took a back seat to raising the kids, going to ball games, pta meetings, and parent-teacher conferences. Now we are not limited on time and have the freedom we always dreamed of. But a lot had changed sexually (both physically & psychologically) so I was looking for fresh ideas. This book not only gives fresh ideas on sex, but shows how important other aspects of a relationship needs to be to have a healthy sex life. I recommend this book to any couple wanting to get their relationship healthy and vamp up their sex life.

learned a lot in these few pages
I purchased this book not only because most of the reviews were favorable but also because it was written by a practicing, licensed therapist. I figured it would, therefore, be well-grounded in analysis and application to real life as well as well-written and I was 100 right. While it is short, simple and sometimes repetative (in terms of suggestions), there is deep and, in my opinion, accurate insights and conclusions which lead to things you can do, change, add, think about to enhance what's going on between your sheets. Will it magically turn your Mr. into Mr. Gray, no. Will it help you understand why you want him to be that way, what role you play in getting him that way and enjoy the process, yes.In my opinion, this author is right on target and clearly understands why there has been such obsession with this particular book.

Commonsense ideas
Reading the "Why a user's Guide" & "Discuss the Unspoken Rules" ( first 4% of the book) will give you an excellent feel for the information that Ms Slingerland Ryan will be imparting in this book. In this day and age we do seem to do some incredibly supid things, like going into a very personal relationship with our eyes glued shut. Ms Slingerland Ryan says open those eyes and start by talking with your partner, discuss your wants and needs BEFORE ya jump in the sack. If this is the only thing you take away from this excellent "user's guide" , possibility saving yourself boo-koodles of money on therapy later on, then it will be worth it's weight in gold!

Good but minus the Illustrations
This is a good review from the relationship standpoint. It provides us with the perspective of issues that are important for couples in developing and maintaining a fulfilling relationship. With my 5th anniversary quickly approaching, I was looking for a more detailed guide as to some of the actual "procedures" that may have been performed in the red room and other areas of the story. This was NOT the case. A more appropriate title would be Great Tips for Couples Seeking Depth and Stability

for beginners
I like the idea of this book, but I think it's for inexperienced people. If you have a background in even a little of what Fifty Shades is about, you may not need it. But it is a great price. If you are new to the field, and are interested in the psychological reasons for BDSM relationships (Ana and Christian), then buy the book. Not bad all- in -all, well written. Gives some insight.

Useful
I don't know why I got this. I enjoyed the whole series of 50 Shades but my personal love life didn't need perking up. But I am always willing to try different things. Maybe we will need perking later. It is well written and ties into things well. Some good suggestions but those weren't new to me.

Good Insights
This guide gave some very good insights on the underlying messages in the story as well as the actions of the characters and what they represented. After reading this book I had a much easier time finishing the 1st as well as going on to read the 2nd book in the Fifty Shades of Grey book series. It brought deeper meaning and understanding to the story, in other words, the book series were not simply hot and spicy sexy books but there was more to the story than you initially think and it gave a more realistic sense of these characters. Still fun books to read.

Average
Another therapist riding on the back of a successful book and writer. The book repeats excerts from 50 Shades of Grey. and analyses the content. Then supossably gives advice and tips on how to spice up your sex life. There is nothing here that is not common sense. Could help a few people who found 50 Shades of Grey the most erotic book ever written

Good!
Started reading but a bit like the book it can loose you a bit, just another 'sex manual' written to correspond to the story.

Useful information to enable change
I loved this book and it confirmed everything I'd thought about the 50 Shades of Grey stories. It does help if you have read all the books, but as a guide to spicing up a relationship, it stands alone.

good present
Was a good present but was a little expensive for what it was, more detail on what product was and the content.
