great for painters but not for sketch artists
I purchased this when the sketchbook version was sold out this year. and while I have made it work dry media floats all over the surface of this book when your drawing in simple HB graphite. its maddening. the book looks filthy all the time. so if you need a sketchbook - use a sketch book. But for painting in watercolor this book is really great - fabulous!! Color goes down smoothly and lifts effortlessly when needed. a great watercolor book to be sure. So even if your favorite book is sold out - use this for its intended purpose and you won't be dissapointed!

Perfect for many Creative activities
I love these books for their continuous pages. I keep a daily journal that includes stamping, drawing, and stickers. The entries can flow into one another and create a better picture of my life. I began with the Pocket size but changed to the larger so I could expand my entries.

Japanese Folding Album leads to creations that standard surfaces cannot offer
I love the narrative opportunities that I can create when using a Japanese Folding Album. Pictured is one of my recent creations. Windswept © 2021 By Duane Kirby Jensen, 10.5 feet x 8 1/4 inches {5 x 8 1/4 ink per panel} in a Japanese Folding Album ink and pen sketch

Great for Photography Albums
as Photographer I discovered Moleskine Japanese Album a few months ago and as soon as I saw it the idea of creating photo albums using it opened a new level of creativity. you can give motion to the photographs or just deliver a nice way to store photos. the limit is your imagination so if you get one for your photos please share what you do!

It was used to its fullest and was a lot of fun
It was used for drawing and it was given as a gift. He sent pictures of it ; he used it all !!!! You could see how much his talent was getting better with the drawings being side by side

A Gatefold Journal, Opportunities for Journaling
After the small accordion-fold journal turned into a travel journal, I wondered if a larger one would work as well. It does. You can turn the folded pages like a book, or you can fold out the huge accordion-pleats into a tableau that stretches across your mantelpiece. What I like best is that you can decide to stretch your entries across one or more pages, as much as you need. It's very freeing, much more so than a regular journal. What I like less is the paper quality. It's heavy enough for light watercolor washes and pen work, but the surface is slick and requires some scrubbing if you use inks or watercolor. Acrylic paint users will have less trouble in application, but it still takes a while for acrylics (and some inks) to dry. The same is true for collage. The book isn't designed for expansion by a lot of inclusions, and if your collage uses a lot of glue or gesso, you will have to leave the book open or expanded while it dries completely. If you plan on using it as a travel journal and working on it while traveling, it might be wise to include some pre-cut sheets of parchment to put in while the paint is still tacky, to avoid gluing pages together.

Accordion Style Awesome
I used this to make an accordion-style scrapbook for a friend. SUPER fun. I ended up having to cut open the binding and restitch to allow for a thicker book, since I pasted a ton of photos on the inside, but the accordion style lets you choose the size of your sketches and avoid drawing in the crack of the book. It's really neat to be able to purchase a sketchbook in this format. I'd like one that was slightly bigger, like 5" x 7", hint hint.

Very nice quality. Using to create a timeline
This is an amazing little accordion journal. I plan to use it to help my daughter create a timeline of events. I'm afraid to let her touch it because it's such a nice book! Really well put together.

The notebook itself is really nice, pages feels rich. But it was shipped with just a plastic cover, not cardboard or anything hard to protect the notebook. And it was damaged on several parts. I bought it as a birthday gift but turned out to be a disappointment.

I like moleskine. I’m used to their paper and I particularly like drawing in their Japanese sketchbook BUT they have the worst quality control. Two of the three notebooks I’ve purchased from amazon came with glued pages. When trying to separate them they end up braking or not opening flat. Problem is, they come wrapped and there is no way to know what you get.
