Halloween 365 yes please..
A good read. A lovely writing style. Ok so I need to expand on this a bit having read the book a second time recently after a craving to start again with the new Nocturnal Universe series creeping out. This is an amazing story of love, cravings and protection that starts from one big mistake and lie. The characters really flesh out and Delaney is a strong fierce woman that really calls out to me. May end up baking after this review as she has made me craving pastry... to the point the world she is thrust into is Halloween 365 which is one I would really enjoy and the characters she meets are charming, gruff loveable and realistic. I would highly recommend this series to all paranormal romance lovers.

A Fun Read!
This is the first book in the Nocturne Falls series. I loved it!Delaney James is a wonderful character. I really liked her. When she accidentally walks in to a deadly situation she finds herself on the run for her life. In an attempt to hide, she stumbles across an opportunity to get out of the city quickly and heads to Nocturne Falls. However, she's stepped out of the frying pan and into the arms of a vampire.Hugh Ellingham is also a wonderful character. I really liked this charming vampire. Tired of his grandmother's meddling in his life, he reluctantly agrees to marry a mail order bride. He didn't intend to fall for her, but his attraction for Delaney only grows as he gets to know her.I came across this book in my recommendations on Amazon due to my browsing and reading history. After reading the blurb and a few of the reviews, I decided to give this book a try. I am glad I did! I am a fan of paranormal romances, but don't often read ones full of humour. This book combines these elements quite well.I started to read and didn't put it down until I had finished it. I fell in love with the description of Nocturne Falls. Who wouldn't want to live in a town that celebrated Halloween all year round? I enjoyed meeting the various residents, one of whom is Stanhill, Hugh's rook (servant and blood donor) and friend, he is sensible and down to earth. There are other characters such as Hugh's brothers, Sebastian and Julian, who also make an appearance. They are chalk and cheese and completely different to Hugh. Then there's Elenora Ellingham who is Hugh's Grandmother. She is determined to see her grandson happy, but has a manipulative streak a mile long which made me not like her in the beginning. This is a humourous tale full of danger, misunderstandings and secrets. It is told through the eyes of both Delaney and Hugh. I found myself grinning at Delaney's reaction to finding herself living in a town dedicated to Halloween. However, this is a cover for all of the residents who hide in plain sight. There are witches, vampires and werewolves living in amongst a few humans. Here they can be themselves and not feel scared. The story took me on an emotional roller coaster ride from beginning to end. However, I felt that the danger posed by Delaney's ex-boss was not as intense as it could have been. But, having said that, the story is a romance and I enjoyed watching Delaney's and Hugh's relationship grow. I reached the end of the book and was left with a warm fuzzy feeling as I enjoy a happy ending. I am now looking forward to reading the next book in the series.Kristen Painter has written a wonderful paranormal romance. I enjoyed her writing style, which is fast paced and entertaining. The flow was wonderful too. I would definitely read more of this author's books in the future.Although there are no scenes of an explicit sexual nature, there is some bad language. Therefore, I do not recommend this book to younger teens. However, I highly recommend this book to readers who love paranormal, supernatural or urban fantasy romances. - Lynn Worton

Romantic, funny, endearing ... buy this book!
I picked this book on a whim after finding it on offer on Amazon; and I'm so glad I did.I haven't had this much fun with a paranormal romance novel in a long time. It's simple premise brought alive with colourful endearing characters (including a large cat, and who doesn't love cats) and roller-coaster twists and turns that keep you glued to it.As paranormal romances go, I have to say it was a pleasant surprise to see this book deliver a wonderful love story without resorting to graphic sex scenes. Instead the romantic scenes tasteful and implicit, bringing you all the love without naming a single erogenous body part.I didn't want this book to end. I wanted to see the couple have more interactions with his ex, her ex-boss, I wanted to go to their wedding, see her realise her dream, meet their first born ... my imagination can see so much in their future I and I wanted to be part of it.And who knows, hopefully I'll get my wish come true, as this is the first book in the Nocturne Falls series, and I've already purchased and started reading the next one 'The Werewolf Meets His Match'. Just a great start to a series. Buy it now!

Pleasant enough read
I started off reading this quite optimistically. The main female character had a charming sense of fun to her and the story started off well. The book was a pleasant enough read, but my interest did start to wane as it went on. Hugh was a little too wishy-washy for my tastes, especially for a vampire. Delaney stopped being fun and became a little too accepting of things too quickly, and she became far too soppy, losing all her humour. The problems she was running from were resolved extremely quickly and easily. Just a heads-up, this book is one that closes the door on the bedroom scenes. It doesn't bother me, but it's good to know for those who prefer more detail.Overall, the book was a good quick read, but it did seem to run out of steam.

Still my favourite!
This was the first book of Kristens' that I ever read and remains my all-time favourite. I'm hoping the special edition will be available in the UK as I simply HAVE to have it. The introduction to the world that is Nocturne Falls with this book draws the reader in immediately with Delaneys' situation. All the twists and turns certainly kept me hanging on until the end. There's tension, humour, other worldly entities introduced, and of course Captain Underpants. Not going to give the game away any further, except to say that NF is a world of great reading so come on board and see for yourself!

I want a second part
Ok I devour books at least one a day and mainly Supernatural and Regency romance. But the problem is, after some time, all plots sounds same and u sort of expect what is going to happen next. So when I found this book, the plot summery looked like any other vampire human romance. But as I started reading, the story telling power of the author engrossed me, and even if I could pretty well guess the next thing going to happen, I read on because both the hero and the heroine were so beautifully drawn. And that is a mark of a great story; you tell the same thing in such a way that the reader is forced to read it till end. I don't know if the book has a sequel, but I will be so eager to know about the married life of Delaney and her pastry shop. Just imagine, a vampire pastry chef!!!

LOVE this series!
Kristen Painter creates a charming world in Nocturne Falls, and very likable characters from the protagonist Delaney James who recites facts about chocolate to herself when nervous, to the other characters that the series slowly makes us acquainted with like the scalding hot werewolf Sheriff Merrow and his family, the clan of beautiful witchy Williams women, along with fairies, gargoyles, and more. I appreciate that each of the characters are distinctive and not just the typical sassy women/strong men formula that is common to this genre. Instead the characters are psychologically developed and add to the depth of the stories both in humor and in intrigue. The mysteries of each story in the series are engaging and the characters smart enough so that the reader is not left frustrated. "The Vampire's Mail Order Bride" is a cute and sexy without being cloying and I read it in one sitting and have since devoured everything else in the series. If you are a series-reader and want to know where it is worth reading this book and investing in the series, the answer is definitely yes. Cleaner (non-explicit sex, no swearing) but no less engaging than Michelle Bardsley and Robyn Peterman (who I also love), quicker paced but with the sense of realism of Molly Harper (who I also love), Painter's writing style flows, making it easy and enjoyable to read. She has found the perfect balance of humor, action, likable characters, whimsy and realism.

DELICIOUSLY CUTE AND DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING !!!
Title: The Vampire's Mail Order BrideSeries: Nocturne Falls, Book OneDesignation: Standalone Novel, NO CliffhangerAuthor: Kristen PainterReading Platform: Kindle EditionMy Rating: FIVE DIVINELY ENTERTAINING STARS*****Wow! I absolutely love it! The Vampire's Mail Order Bride is the first release in the delightfully entertaining new series, Nocturne Falls, by Kristen Painter and it is delectably delicious. (Pun intended) The series is a paranormal romance based on all manner of supernatural beings who live and work among humans in a town named Nocturne Falls where it's Halloween every day of the year. And they celebrate it big time since it's the town's main source of income. How could you not love it with names like The Scream Shop, Hallowed Bean, Howlers and Insomnia and that's only a few. And did I mention it's located in Georgia. Oh yes, and I live in Georgia which makes me love it even more, not that I need another reason because there are plenty of reasons to love this book solely on its own merit. It's exceptionally well crafted, well executed, well edited and well developed. The characters are engaging, endearing and at times, laugh at loud funny. It's sweet, exciting, humorous and romantic with just the right amount of danger, intrigue and suspense. And of course, it wouldn't be complete without a large dollop of angst. This is my first time reading Kristen Painter's work but it certainly won't be my last! This is a standalone novel and does include a deliciously sweet happy ending. I don't want to give anything away but I will say that it does include vampires, witches, werewolves, gargoyles, fae and all manner of creatures we all know and love including humans, a very spoiled Maine Coon(cat) and a meddling grandmother. I also must warn you - it does contain a feisty, brave, beautiful, straight-shooter, human heroine who just happens to be a chocolate lover and a self proclaimed confectionery artist with a mind of her own and a handsome, hunky, wealthy, protective male vampire hero who is determined to never fall in love again. So don't say I didn't warn you, because when determined Delaney and stubborn Hugh meet, well, let's just say that sparks fly, chocolate melts and Nocturne Falls may never be the same again. Hugh never even knew what hit him! Oh my! Did I say that I loved it? I may have mentioned it but just in case, I love it! I'm ready for Book Two in this enchanting series. This book does NOT contain hardcore profanity nor explicit sex, however, the sex is inferred and is totally dreamy!
