Absolutely great!
One week ago, I bought another brand of air fryer. Everything seemed perfect about it when it arrived but the second time I used it it had an electrical shortage and was dead. I was so disappointed after doing all the research.!!! my sister and I bought the same air fryer and she ended up returning hers too afraid that it would have an electrical short like mine. When the gowise arrived, the delivery person left it on the stairs 2/3 of the way from the front door. The box and unit weighed 32 pounds. It was a challenge to roll that box up the stairs, but I was determined because I had no choice -the other air fryer was so light, I could carry it up the stairs in the box by myself. So I approached this air fryer with much trepidation I like the gowise brand. I'm actually replacing a Gowise air fryer that I really loved for three years. When I finally had the energy to unbox the air fryer and install it I felt hopeful. First it's a solid machine well-made and impressive. It comes with a generous amount of accessories. I've read reviews criticizing the beeping and it's true. There is a lot of beeping when selecting the correct time and temperature. A knob to control the digital temperature and timer would be an improvement. Other than that it's a spectacular machine. I was surprised to find that the first thing that we fell in love with was lightly toasting tortillas to eat them as chips they were so light and so perfectly toasted. It was amazing, I was able to note the time and temperature to be created again and again 360° for three minutes! We made onion rings and apple crisp pie and heated up meat pies. Everything was delicious and perfectly heated. I'm excited to discover what else I will be making , I've had an air fryer for the last four years and normally use it just for quick heat ups and fries and finishing ribs out of the oven. But I assure you that the options this model will give you will expand the things I will be able to create in the kitchen , I'm looking forward to having my cousin over for dinner for kebabs and roasted potatoes. I know it's going to be wonderful but my favorite thing to make in the air fryer is hashbrowns. I zap whole potatoes in the microwave for four minutes. Then I cut and toss them with oil and seasonings air fry them on french fry setting and it's perfect every time you have to try it!

Versatile well-designed oven & accessories with enormous potential
My first attempt with an air fryer. I wanted something big because most of them looked like they were very small and could not handle large meals or cooking for a full week’s worth of meals. One of the first things I wanted to try was to cook (air fry) bacon. This baby will do a full pound of thick sliced bacon with ease. I used the two shallow mesh trays and then just switched them out about ½ way through. The top of the oven is definitely a hot spot so if you fill it up, you’ll need to adjust expectations to keep from burning. Don’t forget to save the grease in the bottom pan so you can fry your eggs in it later! I found that the cook times in the recipe book were no-where near where they needed to be, too low. The user’s manual has a more useful guide IMHO. Also, the recipe book has NO PAGE numbers on the pages!?!? Who thought that one up? But I suspect there are probably some very good places on-line to learn more about things to do with an air fryer… Haven’t yet had time to try out more of the functions but my first experience with the bacon was great. The mesh trays came out looking nasty from a cleaning standpoint but BOY did they clean up easy. Quick scrub with a brush & soap and toss them in the dish machine. I believe they also used some very high-quality materials on the parts. They conduct heat extremely well which means faster cooking. But they also cool down incredibly fast. I did notice that some of the burnt-on stuff in the bottom tray (pan?) did not come clean very easily at all. Even after a cycle in the dish washer. The inside of the oven, though, is a breeze to get clean. Same high-end metals that come clean with just some light soap and a paper towel. Have used it to fry 3+ lbs of boneless skinless chicken breast at once. Chop it up in pieces & marinate it in some olive oil for a few hours. About 9 min @ 400 degrees, then turn the chicken, then maybe another 6-9 min at a little lower temp. I tried several different types of bread for toasting with mixed results. It really just dries the bread out. Maybe go with a real high temp setting & shorter duration. When I looked at all the parts that came with this, I thought it was way too much stuff. And more stuff than I wanted to store. But I also wanted the frying basket so ordered the 3-piece accessory kit (basket, baking pan, & toasting rack for $30). Now that I have everything, I think it’s worth it to have so much more flexibility. All components seem to be extremely well-made materials that will conduct heat well & clean up easily. Not sure what all the fuss is on these reviews about the digital oven interface and all the buttons & numbers. It’s actually fairly simple and all the different buttons give you ease of fast flexible settings. As long as they don’t wear out, I’m perfectly happy with the interface. The entire oven itself is very light IMHO. Easily picks up & stores in a cabinet. Some mention it getting hot but even when it’s running I don’t think it puts out much heat at all. In fact one of my biggest reasons for wanting this was my regular oven puts out so much extra heat every time I cook it’s just working my a/c overtime. This little baby has definitely reduced that footprint. Lastly, I’d say aromas from this are FAR less than conventional cooking. Especially for frying chicken & bacon. Which is a HUGE plus! As soon as I’m done baking, I hit the kitchen with some air freshener and within an hour the smells are pretty much gone. Perhaps one reason I didn’t fry chicken so often was that the smell just seemed to permeate everything for days. It’s hard to tell how this device will do in the long haul but I am REALLY glad I bought this air frying oven. I’m definitely looking forward to heading to my favorite market that has a top-notch meat counter. Gonna get me some NY Strips, marinate & season them, and go to town! Hope this review has helped clarify this complex little batch of tools & this oven. Oh, and one last thing I forgot to mention. I ordered this on a Friday night, and about 2 pm on Sat it was at my door! Wow! Amazon Prime ROCKS!

I've gone thru 3 AF's. This is my forth.
My first naive purchase was an Iconetes, 20 gt or so. It had a bad chip and stopped cycle midstream. Hit the button and it finished. The second was a Brio 15. 5. My favorite and I would have kept it except the letters wore off in 7-8 days. I read reports saying so , but you have to ask if it's really a problem when 7000 others are happy with it.The big selling point was an innovative grill plat that flipped over to a griddle. I was sad to see that go. You could PROGRAM 50 of the 200 they gave you. I wanted that. I wish warmups presets could be programed because they want 350 @ 20 mins. Good for a stove, but 400 at 5-6 min was fine. My third, a WQQ (I'm sorry my lips just don't work that way). When I get an oven I look at how I can clean it and I feel around. Well when I hit the coil 'hood', it was energized and so were the brackets hoildin the coil. Bye-bye. But I was running out of ovens that fit my counter and had what I wanted. Then I found the Gowise and it had many engineering features I wanted. But it too had a unigue grill plate. No flip side griddle though. In fact it was designed to sit cupping the heating bars, to sit right on to off the two. The engineering sold me. Pros: well constructed Stainless inside and out. Grill plate is nice. Selectable top coil and bottom rods . It has a simple manual mode. Just hit M on the intutive clean panel and set your time and temp. Presets: I do not use them at all. They are a joke, because you will need to adjust them constantly. Some units need you to go to a preset just to start and thats crazy. Also it has a glass door on the inside w/o rubber seals and such. Also the many different tops of these doors have large vent holes on the top of the doors and they often trap splatters inside the double pane door. This one is a sealed glass door with no holes that could catch splatters. You can go manually easily , chose top , bottom, or both heating elements. Cons: I wanted 1800 watts. This had 1700, but I was running out of choices and I liked the engineering of the brand, so I took it It seems to cook fine, but I'll update when I find out more

Works well and as intended - Love this one
I love this air fryer - I have gone through several of them already or given them away. I was looking for one that specifically had rotisserie features. And I have used the basket for cooking a steak, and the round basket for fries. I have used rotisserie to cook a Cornish game hen. They all came out as intended. I have toasted bread and muffins. And I have used many of the different settings, they all worked well. Cleaned easily (remember to clean up within a couple of hours). I also followed the instructions for running it without food first. I also ran it several times with the different equipment and no food - to remove the smell from each. There is no smell when cooking if you do this first. Remember to keep the oven 6" around all sides and the top from other appliances and the wall (I broke one air fryer this way - not this brand but I have learned).

Mixed Reviews Are Warranted
The first thing I did after running the initial 5 minute "burn off" (the smell wasn't bad) was make fries and onion rings in the rotisserie basket. It was fun to watch. I think it would work better if tit didn't need the rod. I used the preset cook time. The onion rings were perfect, the fries were overcooked and partially burned. It created a ton of smoke. This unit does create a lot of heat. I could see food in a pantry above it cooking or melting. Then I went to clean the basket. It was disgusting. Grease dried all over, stuck in the mesh and all the corners. This will be IMPOSSIBLE to clean (I have it soaking in hot soapy water, but I can't even get it completely submerged it is so big). I may never get any more use out of it. Even the rod took a lot of scrubbing to clean. The reviews that mention this are spot on. I wasn't expecting much, but I thought I'd at least get more than one use out of it. I am now dehydrating some bananas and apple slices. The machine is making a g*d awful noise. I don't know if this is normal or not. I will update the review as I continue to use it. Update: The apple and banana slices created more smoke and a horrible smell like a fast food joint grease trap. It permeated my house. That was Saturday, today is Tuesday and the whole place still reeks. I've still not been able to get the basket clean. ** I contacted GoWise customer service and they were no help at all. ** Be aware that you will need to decide right away if you want to keep this machine. If you do and if something happens past the Amazon return window, you will be out of luck because they ** do not honor their warranty**. They wanted video of the machine making the rattling noise. Really??? You need a video? That's insane. The basket they asked me for pictures of. That I sent and they responded that I should soak it (which I told them I had) and that it was not a warranty issue. I was also told that what I described as the smokey permeating odor they called an "odd smell" and that an "odd smell" is also not a warranty issue. At this point, I am 99% sure this is going back to Amazon. Reduced to one star.

Fantastic Machine, Colors Limited by Shipping Availability
I bought this to replace my Philips XL Air Fryer that I accidentally killed by making a terrible mistake: I put it on the stove under the hood, and bumped the burner knob. The bottom was melted and the machine had to be taken out of service. But this GoWise was everything beyond my wildest dreams! I first saw the oven style GoWise used by Lori Shaw, whom I follow because of RP Strength. She highly recommended this Air fryer and the GoWise brand. What caught my eye was that it was like an oven. With my Philips Air Fryer, I hated fiddling with the basket drawer to take food in and out. I had a hard time cleaning the parts. I felt limited by the design. With this GoWise unit, I get the convenience of the oven door. I don’t have uneven heating as indicated by another reviewer. I love that there are multiple shelves and accessories that come with this unit so I can cook more food at one time, as well as cook them more evenly with the rotisserie feature and rotating accessories. The operation is pretty easy. We use the presets sometimes, but if there are “conventional oven” directions for the frozen food we are cooking, we will adjust the presets to the recommended time and temperature. The beeping of the unit doesn’t bother me; I think the presets are great if you don’t have instructions for a food item and I like that I have a way to know I pressed the buttons properly. This unit is the perfect size for my family of four. I love that we can cook corn on the cob for all of us at once, get evenly cooked tater tots and fries, and have so many ways to cook our favorite foods. I love that the unit turns itself off and has a fan built in to dissipate the heat. I think the only thing I don’t like is the light. The light source is only on one side and only comes on when the unit is on. I can see the food okay when the light is on and the door window is clean, but when the window is dirty or I’m cooking a lot of food, the light isn’t enough to know how the food is cooking. It’s not a big deal since I tend to open the door and check / flip food when I’m not using the rotisserie feature. Another minor thing is finding space to store all the accessories. I use them all, but there are a lot of them. I put them in my electric oven which is pretty much only used for storage or large volume baking these days, anyway. The instruction manual is pretty straightforward and the unit came with a cookbook. I was saddened that I couldn’t purchase directly from the GoWise website and was directed to Amazon due to shipping. I originally wanted a white unit and it was not available to ship to me in that color from GoWise and some vendors on Amazon. I settled for black. I don’t understand why only one color is available to purchase based on where I live. Aside from the oven light, I think this aspect was the most disappointing part of my purchase experience. I love my machine enough to overlook its color; the performance is outstanding. I just can’t overlook the shipping restrictions as a limitation to my options. If you can get it to me, you should be able to get me the color I want. I was willing to pay for shipping despite being a Prime Member to get the color I want but it was not an option from GoWise directly nor some of the vendors here on Amazon.

6 years of Every Day, Sole Oven Source Cooking!! Absolutely Worth EVERY Penny
We have used this airfryer for 6 years, the last 4 as our only method of oven-type cooking since we moved to a place without a stove. This thing was an absolute BEAST. We have baked cornbread, cooked whole chickens (OFTEN) made roasts of all kinds, and toasted sandwiches, French dips...I could go on and on and on. Hands down the best machine! I'm sad they aren't available anymore because ours finally is giving up the ghost, but I'm not even mad about it because 6 years of everyday, all day cooking for less than $150 is a good deal to me. We'll see how the newer model compares. My only criticism is it would be lovely to have replacement baskets & parts.
