Nutritious, (fairly) tasty, and great for workout recovery!
I've been buying these bars for years and I recommend them highly! I use them for recovery after long runs - about a half bar within 15 minutes of a long run is enough to prevent me from crashing - and they're also good to rebuild muscles after being torn down by a workout. A single bar combined with something like a banana is enough for a satisfying lunch when I don't have time for more, and they're great on a hike. I almost always have a spare with me so friends know they can ask for one if they're running low on fuel.I would give 4 stars rather than 5 because I don't like this flavor as much as some of the others (like peanut butter), but that's subjective. In every other way these are very good bars! The protein to calorie ratio is about as good as you can get in something with a lot of nutrients that also tastes good: 20 grams protein in 280 calories, not bad!I like the peanut butter, the vanilla almond, the chocolate peanut butter, and I should try the chocolate hazelnut. I don't much like the S'mores flavor. They all have a good texture, chewy and crunchy without being too much of either, and none of the ones I've tried are cloyingly sweet. The individual wrapping doesn't reseal, but if needed I close it tightly with a rubber band, which keeps them fresh for at least a few days. The outer coating does tend to melt if kept in a hot car, but I suppose that's to be expected, and that coating tastes great. If you've got dietary restrictions I recommend reading the ingredients as I think they vary a bit between flavors. The label says, "We source ingredients that are not genetically engineered," and many (but not all) ingredients are listed as being organic. "Made in Canada," although Clif Bar is a US company.Bottom line, tasty, nutritious, lots of protein for the calories, convenient, and satisfying. What more can you ask for?!

The best tasing bars. Please make this non chocolate flavor again.
These are the best tasting protein bars that I have ever tasted. They have stopped making this flavor. I purchased a bunch. I eat one every day. When I eventually run out, I will have to switch brands to try to find another just as good.I hope they decide to reinstate this flavor. It is the best flavor that they offer. The Vanilla Almond flavor causes gastric distress and the others all contain chocolate.

Tastes quite good--good price
Of the protein bars I've tasted, and there have been plenty, this is perhaps the best or at least tied. I liked the balance bar a lot, but it was primarily made with ingredients that seemed to come from a biology laboratory rather than someone's kitchen. The Cliff Bar provides 20 grams of protein, which is certainly enough for one bar, and the ingredients appear to be just as touted--largely organic. I like that. The peanut butter crunch flavor is actually quite good, and goes down nice with milk or coffee. I highly recommend this product in this flavor and will buy again. You should note that Cliff bars are available with and without protein, so if you want a protein bar, be sure to order it; not the energy bar. Lastly, the price is quite good, about $1.45 a bar or so. At GNC you'd pay over $3 for protein bars sold separately.

Fricken Delicious; Allllmost Five Stars
Now let me say that I've become completely addicted to these things. I think I eat two of them each day; they taste like heavenly goodness. The price here on Amazon varies. I'm lucky enough that my local supermarket carries these for 2 for $3. That's really awesome, imo. I was able to get these on Amazon with Prime for around $15 but then two weeks later, they shot up to $18.50. Why can't we have nice things? My supermarket also has a variety of flavors (the vanilla one, SWEET LORDY), so I'm also just not stuck with a box of one flavor. Unless you're into paying $10-15 more for a variety box. Seller logic.Finding good protein bars is hard... finding good bars that don't break your wallet is hard in general. These aren't the cheapest things but they are also far from the absolute worse. As a Type 1 Diabetic, I've learned the hard way to avoid crap "all natural" bars that have high fructose corn syrup and sugar as some of their first ingredients. This is the quickest way to getting your blood sugar to 300+ and being hungry 20 minutes later as a bonus side effect.Feels bad, man.So, soy protein. I have yet to turn into that angry hormonal, man-woman, hairy monster like a lot of "health" blogs tell you soy turns you into. I have not noticed myself turning into a gorilla just yet so I think I'm good. The soy used here is non-gmo. (says so on the wrapper)Beet juice concentrate - sportsmen use it to increase their performance. Contains a large number of nutrients such as potassium, folate, iron, magnesium, copper, phosphorus and vitamin C. Quick Google search will tell you more about it. I looked it up because I thought it was just a sugar but it's actually good. Beet is still sweet.Speaking of sugar, THIS THING TASTES SO SWEET, it's like a candybar almost. This is probably because the third and fourth ingredients are sweeteners. "Organic" sweeteners to be exact. This is one of my biggest irks with these things(not just Clif bars) but at least it's a step up from high fructose corn syrup. Despite the fact that the first ingredients are sweeteners, my blood sugar doesn't react violently to them and is the reason I keep eating them. Still, two sweeteners right after each other for something that claims "every ingredient serves a purpose" kinda stinks. I seriously don't know how my blood sugar doesn't die from this, haha. It says that it's low glycemic and the huge amount of protein might also help.My other irk: natural flavors. What are they? Please Clif, tell me what these "natural" flavors are because I really hope they're not just other hidden sugars and if they are, at least be honest about it. I hate to sound paranoid but natural flavors are one of those uncanny things that could literally be anything on the planet. There's also no reason to hide them and it just makes people that know about these things distrust the company. I'm not saying there's an animal carcass in these bars but honesty with customers is never bad. The worse that could happen(from the viewpoint of the company) is that people stop buying these if the "natural flavors" are hidden sugary things and then Clif gets rid of them altogether to make customers happy. Then it ends up turning into a good thing for those looking to stay healthy but enjoy protein bars in general. If they can somehow fix these things, they would be golden. I think I eat well enough to not die from eating these as snacks and protein helps my blood sugar. I'm not asking for a sugar free protein bar and even if they could just list these natural flavors straight up, that would be awesome!
