The Real Deal
Accuracy = 99%. Use at distance from vehicles, batteries or other furrous metal objects. Durability = 95% I've dropped it on hard ground with no visible damage to case or internal dial. Functionality = 100% Easy to read, has azimuth port, rotational dial for degrees and is phosphorus glow in the dark after Illuminated. Features a delinometer on the back which aids in several applications. Size / Weight: It's slightly heavier than the Military flip-style compasses AND quite bulkier when choosing a pouch for carry. Overall: A price worthy buy for something reliable, well made and returnable.

Love it. Easy to read and tough case

I love this compass!
It is very accurate and easy to read for my old eyes. Using cross hairs on the glass with the sighting lens makes it easy for accurate readings. I also love the detachable strap so you can wear it around your neck and detach it to measure with. It is also nice and light for carrying on hikes. The only bad thing I don't like is the Inclinometer. It is accurate but it won't always lock. It will move a few degrees both ways when it should be locked. This is not a deal breaker to me that the locking doesn't work. So despite the locking on the Inclinometer not working, I highly recommend this compass!

High quality, durable and accurate. In my opinion, worth more than the selling price

It's a nice well built compass.
I really like this well built compass. It's a nice rugged one that looks like it will last a long time. The lid is on the stiff side which I like because the lid won't flop around while you walk with it open. The dial movement is smooth and doesn't shake around like those toy compasses. It also takes a short amount of time before it settles on a reading but that doesn't bother me. I purchased this one so it would be easy for me to figure out which direction to face for my salat (Islamic prayers). I'm very happy with this compass and for the money spent, it's worth more than what I paid. I'm very happy with the seller as well. I would rate this compass at 4.7 stars because the lanyard has a very thin part where it connects to the compass. I'm not sure how long that area will stay in good shape so I unhooked the lanyard from the compass and keep it in my pocket. For the compass itself, I rate it at 5 stars.

Looks Good
seems sturdy, everything works as advertised. my only issue would be with the nylon case it came with, that's my 1 down star. the case belt loop is poorly thought out and stitched in the wrong direction. i can already tell it wouldn't last 1 full day hike. i punched 2 holes in the sides, heat sealed them and then ran some para-cord to help the loop attach to the strap of my backpack.

Surprisingly Good
This compass feels quite durable, if somewhat heavy. The brass button on the back activates the clinometer for taking a reading. Releasing the button locks the clinometer, making it quite convenient to take a reading. This particular style of lensatic compass is easy to read -- at least I find it easier than the US military style. The downsides are shared with most lensatic compasses. It generally requires a protractor to work with a map, so it is harder to use than a baseplate unit. It's heavy, much more so than most baseplate units. Still, it's a good value, reasonably accurate, and feels durable.

So if you're finding this thing is not pointing to true north (like I did), don't assume its broken. It's likely metal objects or electronics nearby. For me, I had two small rings on...plus i held it in the same hand that I had my apple watch on! This threw it off by a mile. Felt stupid when I realized what was going on. Use it far from any thing that may cause interference and I'm sure you will agree its a decent compass. Best to try it outdoors as it was intended to be used.

I WAS WRONG. I am keeping the original review in case anyone saw it and comes back - I want them to know that this is an update! Because I felt that this compass was not accurate I bit the bullet and purchased a much more expensive, but highly reviewed Suunto MC-2. When it arrived I replicated what I had done with this compass, and got an identical result. BOTH radically altered the bearing when standing in the same spot and doing the same action. It seems that there is some mysterious magnetic anomaly where I was doing my test. This compass turns out to be as excellent as other much more expensive compasses. I can now highly recommend this Sportneer compass as well. This is the original but erroneous review. My apologies to Sportneer. This compass is rugged but it is not accurate - certainly not enough to use in critical environments or for precise navigation. This is a well-built toy that MIGHT be useful in helping beginners get familiar with holding a compass. The needle literally seems to have a mind of its own and varies greatly every time you take a bearing. 100% accurate statement - it varied by 47° just by me turning my body 180°. This is NOT a real compass.

I am really pleased with this compass. It's for a 12 year old boy who is in Scouts. The compass is of really good quality, and looks fantastic, should be very serviceable for him.
