It seems to be an effective product for what it needs to achieve. There are just two cautions you have to take. 1) Make sure this is the one you need. There is more than one style of ribbon adapters for SATA. This is the narrower option, and some devices use a wider option. For example, this will work within certain confirmed Dell models, however, it won't work on say, some of the mini PC boxes out there as many of them use a wider ribbon style. So either make sure your Dell model is listed or if you are trying to use this with something else, check the design of the cable to what you need very carefully. 2) Be VERY delicate with your install of this adapter. These ribbons can damage far too easily as some others have pointed out. This isn't so much a fault of the product, as the same applies to any ribbon cable or adapter of this type. It is made to carefully be placed and then forgotten about. Not like the cables running inside or outside of a PC. That being said, this adapter does indeed work. Tested on a valid Dell model that uses this exact adapter (clearly), and it picked up the drive on the first try and has been working fine.

Worked on dell inspiron 15 - 3567

The item is not compatible with the Dell Inspiron 5566 inclusive the connectors are inverted, It almost burned the motherboard, it turned to smoke. The short adapter is the original, the more longer is the acquired in Amazon. Does not working for my laptop.

Works as advertised

Appears to be an exact replacement of the original. It did not fix the problem however I was basically Easter egging trying to figure out what the problem was.

Did exactly what I needed it to for my HP laptop.

The cable I received is 47mm (1.75 inches) long, substantially shorter than the one pictured, and was too short to reach from the SATA drive bay to the ribbon connector on the motherboard on my Inspiron 15.
