Ground EFX Swarm Series Digital Metal Detector

We have about a foot of snow on frozen ground right now, so as anxious as my 13-year-old son is to try out his new toy in the real world, so far he's just been able to practice with it inside. But he is loving it. He's small, so I was a little concerned it would be too big for him, but he is able to use it comfortably. Construction appears very solid and he loves all the different settings on it. It seems to be the perfect starter detector for his new hobby and hopefully one he'll be able to use and enjoy for years to come.

Bought for my dad and he has barely used it but likes it.

We bought this for my 12-year old son. He thought the idea of finding coins and metal to be super fun. but we hid several coins in the yard and it was a struggle to try to locate them with all of the false positives. We were frustrated and we returned it. Perhaps someone who has more experience with metal detectors might find this one helpful. It is put together very well. It is light weight and adjustable.

Price worthy.

Complicated operation. Inadequate instructions.

This metal detector lasted just over the 30 warranty period when the calibration went South. Now it won't detector anything below 3 inches. I would not recommend this item. I happened to notice that you can get extended warranties for a price for either a year or two years. Does that sound like they knew exactly how long this detector would hold its calibration?
