The Perfect Knife of its sort-- you can pay more for other brands, but you don't need to.
Bought this knife ***15*** years ago. Frequently used, it's still in tip top, perfect, shape. Don't know how it could have performed any better. The plastic handle is as new, the blade still unblemished and sharp. Top recommendation,

Great knife
This knife is very sharp right out of the box. Is well balanced actually light, but cuts well. and is not too long, or too short. Hits that nice middle size, Definitely worth the price.

Quality Knife
This is a very nice chefs knife and is incredibly sharp. It went through a bone-in ribeye roast like butter.

Buy This Immediately!
This is my new favorite knife and I will always use this! I replaced some older knives with this 6" and the 8" and I can't believe I didn't buy these years ago. Great value and a great knife. You won't be disappointed.

Outstanding knives, bought 6 so far. Two for us and the others as gifts.
If I only had one kitchen knife this might be it. I have many others but this one is a nice size that can do most things pretty darn well. Gave one to a friend, he thought that was an odd gift, put it up and didn't try it for almost a year, finally he needed a sharp knife for some ribs and remembered the one I gave him, he said it was a eureka moment when he realized why I had given it to him. He also realized that he had never actually owned a sharp knife until then, at 62 years old. He loves it now. It holds an edge very well. The handle is superb, doesn't get slippery, big enough for my hands and small enough for our daughters. Blade is more flexible than the 8" version (which I also have and highly recommend and gift) but that works well for many things as well. It really is an awesome knife.

Great knife, but more of a utility/not chef's...
I'll start off by saying that this is a very good knife. The Victorinox Fibrox line of knives generally get very good reviews and for good reason. They use good steel, are easy to sharpen, and can be put in a dishwasher (however I NEVER put kitchen knives in the dishwasher, but you could and for some that's probably an attractive feature). Victorinox calls this a Chef's knife, but it is not, at least in the classical sense. In my opinion it's more of a utility knife. And a great one when used for that purpose. The blade is a little too narrow to be used for board chopping/slicing, your knuckles will be banging into the cutting board. (I have average sized hands) But as a utility knife this baby shines! Slicing open bags, parting out a chicken, slicing various proteins and bread stuffs (think bagels, muffins, etc.) or even as a backup to your main knife on a pinch. Utility knives are often the most abused knives in the block, and at this price point I don't feel guilty abusing it a little. I find the handles secure and comfortable. (on a side note, i also reviewed the rosewood version of this knife and did not care for that handle at all). All is not perfect however. My biggest complaint is that the blade is rather thin and has more "flex" than I care for. If I want a flexible filet knife, i'll buy one thank you. I really notice the flexing of the blade when trying to get through a chicken joint or the cartilage of cooked ribs, etc. But still, other than the flexi-ness of the blade, I really like this knife. Sharpening is s breeze compared to my Japanese knifes. No need to break out sharpening stone, just take 10-20 swipes across a good honing steel and it gets razor sharp. Really, razor sharp... I also have the 7 1/2" version of this knife (comparison photo below), which is equally useful and recommended. Pick your poison with either of these, some might prefer the longer version... So overall (on a scale of 1-5): OOTB Sharpness: 4 Fit/Finish: 3 Comfort: 3 Performance: 4 Value: 4 Total Avg. Score: 3.6 (Above Average) Recommended

A great value, really small "chef's knife"
This is almost exactly what I was looking for. A 6 inch blade, with a great finish and REALLY sharp. I also like the plastic handle because I know it will last a lifetime. And it is pretty darned thin at the spine, which makes it great for cutting hard vegetables. I purchased this knife for those jobs that I don't want to pull out a large chef's knife. I don't find an 8 inch chef's knife to be particularly useful (especially those with a thick spine), so a 6", in combination with my (thin-spined) 9" Japanese chef's knife, is perfect. Did I mention it's really sharp? Among the sharpest I've seen straight out of the box. This seems to be a core characteristic of the Victorinox knives I've bought recently. This knife (and all Victorinox knives I've purchased so far) is a great value for the quality of the blade you get. While it's a stamped blade, it rivals some Japanese brands in quality and fit and finish. Recommended!
