The stiff side of the splint is approximately 6 3/4 inches.

Q: Can it be put in the washer?

No. I would probably hand wash it and let it air dry. I think the washer would bend it out of shape.

Q: Need special tools to self-adjust bendable metal stay ?

Special tools are not necessary to self adjust the metal stay. If adjustments need to be made, mild to moderate pressure can be used. If you are working with a medical professional, they may also be able to assist you in adjusting the stay.
