J.S. Bach Sonatas And Partitas For The Violin Vln (Schirmer's Library of Musical Classics): Schirmer Library of Classics Volume 221 Violin Solo

I am really disappointed with this copy. I bought this from another site and while I mostly like the line spacing and most of the page turns make sense, I am angry to find that all of Bach's music has been butchered by an editor (Herrmann). In every piece, the editor has consistently adapted and altered the trills and rhythms of many bars and has even gone as far as to change the actual notes and turns in other bars. This unfortunately renders this book almost useless. The edits that have been made are both unnecessary and in many cases, just wrong. I found myself having to edit and cross out numerous notes and the book became less and less legible. Do not buy this book. If you want the proper music that Bach wrote, I strongly suggest that you buy the Barenreiter version.

This book came in good shape. The music itself is difficult and I would not recommend this book to violin beginners. I’ve played for 7 years in an orchestra (as a second violin) and decided I wanted to start playing more on my own terms. This is a good challenge and is great to practice with.

Good and cheap edition. Easy to lay on the music stand.

If you are a musician, teacher, self-taught violinist, etc... this is a total MUST, the print is flawless, will buy again.
