Great kit, the knife is beefy and sharp, sharpened well and edge retention is ok. Great for beginners. The 1x1x4 basswood is good quality. Not a lot of wood to remove.

Just getting started so I don’t know how it’s going to turn out, but the kit has everything I need to make a successful carving. So I have the patience, and determination remains to be seen.

Je voulais me lancer dans la sculpture sur bois, j'ai donc pris ce kit car BeaverCraft a bonne réputation et ce kit possède les basique pour bien commencer. Au final j'ai bcp apprécier et me suis pris un kit BeaverCraft plus complèt pour pouvoir faire d'autres sculptures et aussi des cuillères, kuksa. Je recommande ce produit.

Harder than it looks, no issues with the product but be careful the knife is very sharp and it’s easy to cut yourself accidentally.

I'm an absolute beginner, however I came to this kit after watching numerous YouTube videos of crafting little characters. This kit gives you 3 lengths of wood, a good beavercraft knife, finger tape and wizard stencils, a pencil, plasters, and a picture booklet on how to proceed and progress with carving a wizard. This booklet does not offer any guidance on cutting techniques, do's and don'ts. For this you will need to invest time watching YouTube tutorials, and perhaps buy some appropriate wood carving gloves to offer more protection than the tape will provide - at least until you get the hang of handling a wood carving knife and less chance of slicing open a finger!
