Best Pot Holder I Ever Had
There I was, with $21.00 in my cart, and free shipping if I found something for another four bucks. This hot pad cost a bit more than that, but I am so glad I got it! In fact, I liked it well enough that after it came, I ordered another in a different color. They are the only ones anyone wants to use now.For starters, there is no "wrong" side. You can't burn yourself by flipping it over, because it is the same on both sides, with the color limited to the cute edge (which probably disguises formidable insulation.) It's water proof. Ever burn yourself by getting part of a hot pad wet, not noticing, then trying to pick up something hot? It won't happen here. I've tried it.Lastly, any fluid with which the latex comes into context, beads up. When I first pulled the hot pad out of the Amazon box, I wondered what "washable" meant. Was it surface-only, or could I drop it in the wash? We'll never know. Anything that gets on there, you just wipe it right back off again. If you have any young people in your house who are just now learning to cook and bake, this is a must-buy. Their little hands are safe, as long as they keep this pad between themselves and the hot stuff.Update: these are over a year old now, but they still look as if they slid right out of the package this morning. I cook a LOT, and these are still the only ones that get used. If you need hot pads, I'd hop on these before they sell out.

long time user
I bought the Duncan Hot pads several years ago and loved them so much I bought a pair for each of my grown daughters. I wanted to replace some of the old pads that I had abused through the years. The new pads are just as good as my older pads BUT I have a small hand and the new pads are double thick and not as easy to use when grabbing an odd shaped pot or pan out of the oven. It is also difficult to hold in my hand. I won't but the new style again because of the thickness and will try to make the remaining older ones last as long as I can.

Very thick
I thought they were like the ones I have by the same company but these are so thick it is hard to pick handles up with them. Don't recommend.

Makes a good trivit
This "hot pad", while a thick pad, cannot be used to protect hands from heat. It is too thick and unbending. One cannot grasp handles or lips on pans. The previous version was flexible and I love the two I bought. I wanted more, but as usual, something good was no longer made. The material in the old pad was good in that it did not let moisture through to burn me. This new style won't either, but that is about the only thing good about it. I am thinking of seeing if I can rip the two pieces apart--with the pad not so thick each half may bend. If not, it does work to protect surfaces from heat without scratching or slipping.

liked the original duncan better
these offer good protection but are not flexible enough. I loved the original duncan pads...what happened to them? these are thicker ...therefore stiffer

Love the flexability
I've had the predecessors of this pad.... a pair of silicone Kitchen Grips. Can't use anything else now - this gives such a firm, reliable grip on pans from the oven.

unhandlich und teuer
Schade - die Beschreibung klang gut, aber in drer Praxis machen die "Lappen"keinen Spaß. Recht steif und unhandlich. Dann doch lieber die klassische Baumwolle.
