An A-Fib Reference for Everyone: patients, family, doctors
Headline: THIS BOOK OFFERS HOPE!!HOPE is often the most important thing for those suffering with A-Fib. At last there is a book available to anyone with a desire or pressing need to know more about atrial fibrillation; and it is written for everyone to understand, without the need to buy a medical dictionary! This book is comprehensive, well organized and easy to use when researching different A-Fib topics. The patient testimonials are wonderful and allow us to see how each person found relief, whether through medication, surgery or another type of treatment, perhaps spiritual, physical or mental. These stories often explain how patients felt through their search for permanent relief, and how A-Fib impacted their relationships and daily lives. It allows readers with A-Fib and their caregivers and loved ones to know that they are not alone and that others with similar conditions have found many various ways of coping to make life with A-Fib easier."Beat Your A-Fib" is a wonderful reference book providing many alternatives. This allows patients to feel more in control, rather than like helpless victims of this dreaded disease. What triggers my A-Fib? Is it OK to exercise? Which blood thinner should I use? Should I see a specialist in A-Fib procedures, and how do I choose a surgeon who is well qualified? What important questions should I ask my doctor when I see him? It is comforting to have such a resource available to help you with suggestions for and answers to these questions and many others. These are some of the reasons why I regard "Beat Your A-Fib" as a valuable blessing for patients with A-Fib or for those with loved ones who suffer from A-Fib. Having such extensive information available in one source is time-saving, empowering and comforting. I wish it had been available when I was living through my A-Fib experience. Many thanks to Steve and Patti Ryan for this long-needed book that will be life changing for many A-Fib patients, as well as many others involved in their lives.Nancy Thompson, A-Fib free since 2009A-Fib.com Support Volunteer Coordinator

Fortunately, I came across Steve Ryan's book and devoured ...
When I was diagnosed with A/fib three years ago, it was a shot out of the blue. As someone who watches his diet and exercises over an hour a day, I had no idea (at age 68) what A/Fib was and that I would get it. I hit Google and was inundated by often conflicting information. Fortunately, I came across Steve Ryan's book and devoured it in two sittings. I found it to be extremely informative and, yes, reassuring. Here was a guy who had A/Fib and lived (healthfully!) to tell about it. Since the book is written by a non-physician, it is written in layman's terms and is easy to understand. It is well researched (the bibliography is 11 pages followed by 16 pages of end notes) and arranged logically (what is A/Fib, how did I get it, how to live with it, treatments and (my favorite part of the book) "Personal Stories of Hope Courage and Lessons Learned"). Most important, Steve Ryan is not a wholly owned entity of the AMA of Big Pharma. This is a guy who you can count on as being on your (the patient's) side because he is just like us. The author also offers a one-on-one session where you can discuss your A/Fib situation. The cost is $250 for 90 minutes ($200 if you purchase this book). So don't do what I did and wait 3 years to set up this session. Instead, immediately read the book and then e-mail Steve's very helpful wife, Patti, and set up the one-on-one session. Both the book and the session are well worth the money. Most important, you will be more fully informed so you can have more productive discussions with your cardiologist and electrophysiologist and take charge of your situation.

Great Book - Even if you don't have A-Fib
It's no small task to take a complicated health issue and make it accessible to the lay person, but Beat Your A Fib does just that. This book is the ultimate quick-study; readers who know nothing about Atrial Fibrillation can pick up this book and move from ignorance to a sophisticated understanding of the disease and its treatments in a few short hours. The author, who suffered from A-Fib himself, uniquely understands the questions and concerns a newly-diagnosed patient will have and presents the information necessary to empower that patient to make clear-headed decisions about a treatment plan.Highly technical research is distilled into actionable knowledge and presented in a well-organized, well-illustrated, and accessible format, making the text not just easy to follow, but easy to refer to on subsequent readings. In fact, the text does such a good job of educating the reader on treatment options, their advantages and disadvantages, and their appropriate use, that by the time case histories of other sufferers from this disease are introduced, the reader is able not only to understand the causes and symptoms discussed in each case, he or she is ready to anticipate the appropriate treatment strategy for each one.The presentation of information is suffused with the book's overriding concern, patient self-empowerment. The author and his wife refused to accept the option of simply living with this debilitating disease, and it is clear from the outset that they want everyone to know that they don't have to accept that option either. In the face of an increasingly complicated health-care delivery system and ever-expanding treatment options, this is perhaps the book's most important lesson, and it is what makes this book a valuable tool even for those who do not suffer from A-Fib. An informed health-care consumer is his or her own best advocate, and this book demonstrates how not just one but a host of average patients took on that responsibility, summoned the courage to take back their health and successfully returned to living their fullest lives.

WELL DOCUMENTED BOOK ON ATRIAL FIBRILLATION
This is an excellent book which supplies detailed information on atrial fibrillation and the various methods of treating and getting rid of the condition by medical procedure. Steve Ryan did suffer from that condition and did a lot of research in order to find a cure and he succeeded through undergoing a non invasive intervention. The book also contains testimonies and experiences of several a-fib sufferers. Some physicians have recommended this book to other physicians for the information it provides. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

A must-buy for the A-Fib sufferer looking for valuable advice.
I only wish I had found the recommendation for this book a number of years ago - it would have saved me a lot of discomfort and worry. Don't delay purchasing this book if you want to be able to manage your A-Fib and talk to medical professionals knowledgeably.
