Gorgeous and unique fan
I spent a lot of time looking for the perfect fan for our great room which has an 18 foot ceiling. I would have preferred to have an integrated LED light and an in-wall remote but those were secondary considerations for me. I could not find any other fan with a blade style similar to this George Kovacs unique design. This fan comes with a 100 watt halogen, E11 type, bulb. I had an electrician install it and he verified the answer I received prior to purchase that the halogen could be replaced with an LED, E11 dimmable bulb. The fan also comes with a matching wood tone metal shade which can be used in lieu of the glass if one does not wish to have a light. The fan is very quiet but it moves a lot of air even at low settings. It is gorgeous, off or on, and provides a dramatic accent to my room. I also purchased a matching 6 foot downrod. Prior to installation, I had two in the wall switches, one for the fan and one for the lights. Now, only one of the switches works, and it just turns the power to the fan and light on or off. This is not a problem for me because I usually prefer the same settings and the fan and lights revert back to the last used settings when the power is turned back on. If I need to change it, I have the included remote mounted on the back angle of the wall, unseen but very handy.I am absolutely delighted with the look of this fan. The electrician who installed it was impressed too and wrote down the model number since he was looking for a new fan. He installs a lot of fans so I found his opinion worth noting. So, although, I thought I was choosing form over function, I happily found out that I can use an LED bulb and that my wall switch works quite nicely along with the remote. This is my perfect fan :)

Beautiful and silent - but slightly different finish than pictured
An artistically beautiful fan that runs nearly silently. We replaced a Hunter fan - what a difference. Obviously, the aesthetics of this fan with its lines and curvature are something special. But, everything else about this fan is higher quality - from installation to running to the remote. In fact, the remote - while nothing special - is much nicer than the clunky 1980s remote that came with the Hunter. It moves a lot of air. We have it installed in a large two story great room using a three foot downrod. The downrod that comes with it is very short, 3" or 6" - so you likely will need to purchase a longer one. There are matching distressed Koa downrods available.Installation took less than one hour.I have run this fan at all six speeds for extended periods of time - I have never heard it. No noticeable buzz or hum. If not for the air movement you would not know it was running. The finish is slightly different than what is pictured - the picture appears a bit more distressed with more horizontal lines and random distressed marks. The actual finish is smoother, with more horizontal lines. It still looks wooden (despite the fans being a high density molded plastic) and those who have seen it believe it to be solid wood. While looking at options for other rooms in our house, I discovered that the finish on the Artemis XL5 is much closer to Minka-Aire F844-DK.If you have other fans installed in your house - this one may put in focus just how old and outdated they look. Everyone who has seen this fan comments on how simple and beautiful it is.

Nice fan BUT different finish from one pictured
Just had this fan installed on a 20' ceiling in my great room and it looks good. It also moves a lot of air, even on medium speeds. I used an 18" down rod so that the blades are about 29" from the ceiling (for various reasons, I didn't want it hanging down into the room with a long down rod), and there's a very nice breeze on level 4. I'll probably keep it on level 3 most of the time. There are 6 levels through the remote, and the listed CFM (and watts used) are as follows:Level 1 - 4227 CFM ( 8 watts)Level 2 - 4987 CFM (11 watts)Level 3 - 5734 CFM (16 watts)Level 4 - 6452 CFM (21 watts)Level 5 - 7285 CFM (29 watts)Level 6 - 8289 CFM (41 watts)As you can see, even level 4 pushes more air than a lot of other fans. The blades are plastic but look very much like wood; my electrician didn't believe they weren't wood when he first saw it. Personally, I prefer plastic as it doesn't warp and there's less weight variation (which can lead to being unbalanced) than with wood. The fan is very quiet until I put on level 6 - at that point it develops an annoying loud hum and audible air turbulence. Level 5 and below are virtually silent though. I opted to install without the included light kit (it includes a wood faux finish cover which looks good) as I didn't like the light cover look, and it's too high to change the bulb if it ever burns out. The remote is functional but it's rather big and looks a bit outdated. Two downsides though: It's quite noisy, but only on the highest speed. Most importantly though, the finish is quite different from the picture on Amazon. Instead of a true distressed look with gold highlights, mine came with a smooth woodgrain finish identical to the picture in the on-line Minka Aire catalogue for distressed Koa. Minka Aire and a third party dealer confirmed that the distressed Koa finish only comes as pictured on their web site (i.e.: with a smooth grain appearance). Unfortunately, the fulfilled by Amazon dealer hasn't responded yet to my question about this. As it turns out, the finish on the fan that I received is still quite beautiful (although perhaps not as striking as the one pictured) and so I am keeping it.

Moves the air in addition to being a modern accessory to my new home
Visitors are impressed when they enter my new home when they see this fan. "It's an art piece", many say. It is quiet, is reversible and really moves the air due to the pitch of the blades. In addition , because it is DC run but hooked to AC, it is energy efficient; one detail written stated, if run 6 hours per day, every day, then electricity might cost about $7 per YEAR.

Missing light fixture
The fan itself is fine and was installed easily. Unfortunately, it was missing the light fixture, so as of this date we have not been able to light it.
