I have several books in the "Let's-Read-and-Find-Out Science" series and my preschooler and I enjoy all of them. "Forces Make Things Move" is about pushing and pulling, friction, and gravity. It has an experiment on friction at the back of the book that the kids can do to try it for themselves. There's a lot of explaining of concepts in this book, so it's better understood by a first grader than preschooler. Well written, nicely illustrated, and entertaining! Review: Great series for knowledge hungry kids - My son loves the whole, Let's Read and Find Out series. They're well written and very enjoyable.

Explains the concept of force very well.
My five year old son has been asking a lot of questions lately and so I bought a bunch of these books and this was one of them. I love the way they explain how when we exert force on something that things also exerts force on you. It explains the concepts really well. This is not a two line per page book. But it is not too wordy that your kid will lose interest.

Educational Book
My son is 5 years old. I bought this book for him since he seems interested in science and I have a science background. He liked it a lot and wanted us to read it to him several times. It is probably more appropriate for kids a little older but he seemed to understand the concepts. We use the concepts from the book when doing everyday activities. The book was very good at explaining forces at a simple level.

A handy book to introduce about 'force' to kids. Kids can read the book with a little help..and the concept is taught in a funny, interactive way. Best buy.

I like the concepts that are explained well for a kid’s level . However , after every page there is an analogy drawn between “ you “ and “ your big brother “ I didn’t understand the reason for choosing that . What if a kid doesn’t have a big brother ?

This book is written in such a lovely, flowing style and not at all boring. It encourages the child to read the text and then look at the accompanying illustrations to see it explained even further. There are loads of books in this series and I have only a few of them but I really wouldn't hesitate in buying any of the others as they are so interesting and take the mystery out of what a lot of people fear - science! I love the fact that it is presented in such a child friendly format and that each example leads onto another so that by the end the child's mind is processing the information and wanting to know more. There is a well thought out experiment that a child can carry out easily using their own toys to understand the concept of how "forces make things move". I really want to encourage my daughter to enjoy science and to not see it as a chore or something that only super-brainy people can do, which can intimidate children from even attempting to understand things. It is a great introduction and I will certainly be looking at buying others in this series.
