Accurate, Reliable, Long Lasting & Durable
I purchased this item 4 yrs ago and it's still going! It's treated me well, no problems since I bought it. It's been very reliable and accurate with salinity levels, durable and easy to clean. Love how it came in the hard protective box, helps to keep it protected. If i had to rebuy another refractometer, I would go with this one again.

accuracy that doesn't break the bank
Great tool. reads accurately. easy to calibrate. Comes with a great protective case that keeps it safe while not in use, as well as a small screwdriver for calibration and a dropper for your samples. My only criticism would be that it's a little too dark. I have to hold the glass pretty much right to a light source to see it really clearly but if you stand next to an open window during the day you'll be good. ambient room light at night is not enough and makes what you're viewing dark. Other than that works great!

Overall worth the price
Pros and Cons?PROs:- Substantial build suggests that if treated like a proper measuring instrument and stored in case between uses, the device will stand up to daily use for a long time- Diopter adjustment allows even bad eyes like mine to see the scale sharply without glasses. BIG plus there!- Dead-easy operation, and a convenient dust cover atop of the calibration screwCONs: (both minor)- With all the different "brand names" this identical-looking device comes under, the documentation accompanying yours may be different than mine. What I got was fairly well translated, but included the wrong cut-and-paste drawing for the calibration point on the scale. I had to trust the text, not the drawing. I noticed that all the examples I've seen on Amazon (including a video) were exactly right. It's a minor but important point.- It would seem that if the plastic "sunlight cover" that squishes the fluid against the prism were to break, the device would be useless. A tiny magnet or other way to secure the cover so it doesn't flop around would be the only design flaw that I seeNote that I did not leave a rating for "Accuracy" as I have no way to gauge it (after all, that's why I bought the device!) Please don't take it as a negative...it's just not something I can say one way or another.Overall, it seems like a very good value for under $20 and recommend it. If it sprouted legs and ran away, I'd buy another.

Overall great tool to have for salt water hobby
I was overall happy with the product with minor exceptions. The first thing I noticed is when I came it looked as if it was used versus being new. There also was no instructions at all. Luckily I was able to figure out how to use it via YouTube. A great thing was it was already calibrated pretty close to accurate and it was very simple to use.

Good price, good product
Window is easy to read, came calibrated (checked it against a calibration fluid). It is a lot lighter than my old refractometer (which was Sybon brand). I don't know if that's a positive or negative but just different. I guess it FEELS less expensive than my old one, but I don't know if that actually means anything or just a difference in materials used so I am not taking a star off for it.

Seems to be as accurate, but waiting for cal fluid
Reticule is decent and can see the graduations easily. Need to verify accuracy with some cal fluid.

it works well
It works well. My eyesight isn't as good as it used to be, so its harder to view through the eyepiece. its still much easier to use and more accurate than the float type salinity measuring devices.

Worst quality and outdated technology
It doesn't work, better go for digital one. Seller doesn't even respond and this doesn't have warrant. Even Amazon doesn't help after 10 days of buying time
