Easy to use, great double seal, and simple packaging of liquids
We learned of Avid Armor around the same time our umpteenth regular sealer gave up the ghost. Great timing! Everything we disliked about our others sounded like non-issues with a chamber vacuum and, it turned out, we can use this in more ways than we expected or in ways never possible before.Space saving: items that had been in containers or original packaging were now in snug, airtight bags, some of which btw, I still open fairly often, re-sealing after use.Marinades now are QUICK, with better depth of flavor and again space saving since the food no longer takes hours or days in the fridge just to obtain a lesser result.Soups & stocks, never possible in bags before, are a breeze with this Avid Armor resulting in neatly portioned packages which, frozen flat can then be stored that way or upright as in a file. Finally, sous vide prep, the primary reason we've had vacuum sealers, this chamber vac. beats them all hands down for several reasons: it automatically double seals in one step....no repositioning and redoing; we no longer have to freeze moist items before using the vacuum sealer; the bags, as light as they are, are well made with no leaky sides; the cost per bag is negligible compared to those we'd used before to sous vide our "fridge meat" and personal fast foods in the freezer making our at hand and already cooked foods not only a great time saver, but far more economical as well. All in all, the Avid Armor USV32 has proven to be one of the best purchases we've ever made, one that is quickly paying for itself in time, space, cost of bags, and energy (mine) saved. It's a product I can comfortably recommend to others!

Great chamber sealer. Best part is size.
This is a great chamber sealer. I can seal items with liquids with no fear of liquid being vacuumed out into machine. It feels like quality and comes with an extra gasket and heat bar. It also comes with a filler which is very nice. The machine weights about 26 lbs and is actually easy to move since it has handles. The chamber is larger than most home chamber sealers which makes it nice for larger pieces of meat or poultry.I have yet to see if the bag is sealed with less air than my Nesco sealer, but it certainly isn’t more air - meaning at least as good. I was told altitude can affect this, so I may be getting as good as it gets in the Midwest :)Good suction power and good machine. No complaints.

At some point it just turned into fun!
Yep you read it. At some point, I don’t know when but I did about 45 minutes straight of vacuum sealing and it just turned into fun! This thing is awesome and so dang easy to use. Literally just skim in the instructions just to make sure you kind of got the jist of it, but it’s literally fool proof. I get a MUCH better seal with this than I did with my food saver. This is going to change the game as far as my freeze-drying long-term storage. Side note, the pictures are from the last items that I bagged. Everything had to go back in the freezer before it thawed. An update. After using this for a few days its still fun to use but I felt I would be remiss to not mention how SOLID this machine is. First of all it is not a light piece of equipment. The specs indicate that it weighs 26 lbs. which comes out to about $27 per pound. What you are getting is a rock solid chamber vac that is worth every penny of that and maybe more. The glass lid alone will give you a gym quality workout if you use it long enough (I recommend alternate sets on both arms if you plan on using it for an extended period of time). Find a good, permanent place to put it. This is not an appliance that you keep under a counter or on a shelf like a blender. You definitely have to play around with vacuum and seal times to find the right combinations for your particular task. I fount that it did not do a particularly good job at sealing the Harvest Right (HR) mylar bags but there may have been other factors at play such as how full the bag was. I had the seal time set to the 7 second max but it seemed like it didnt quite seal completely. No matter, I put it on the HR sealer and problem resolved. That was really the only issue. If you invest in this, you will not regret it.

Excellent Chamber Vac Sealer for the Serious Home Cook
This unit is a legit combo of performance, footprint and price. The build quality is excellent, it does what it is supposed to do relatively quietly and quickly. Easy to use features let you tweak the cycles to your preferences, and it weighs so much less than most other units of its type that it's not a massive effort to move it around. It also looks good on the counter, btw.If I have one thing to add to a wish list for the next version, it would be a lid that stays open at whatever angle you want/need it to be. I have a good sized kitchen, but obviously the sealer needs to be near an outlet, so for me, at least, that means on the counter under cabinets. The unit is designed for the lid to stay open only at the full 90 degree vertical, and I don't have enough clearance for that without having to move it around in the kitchen--so I have to contort a bit to get a full bag of marinating meat into the unit without spilling it all over myself or the vac sealer. I suppose that's a quibble based on my specific circumstances, but I am sure I am not the only one. That notwithstanding, I 100% recommend this unit to anyone serious about their vac sealing, sous vide prep or food storage.

Works well so far.
So far, so good. I like it for the convenience of sealing unfrozen products that contain a lot of moisture.I also like the ability to quickly marinate food. This machine pulls a vacuum that will allow the liquid to boil at room temperature, so I found a shallow container easier than using a bag.The bags are less expensive too. No need for the more costly embossed plastic.
