great hair dryer, especially for the price
after reading plenty of reviews on amazon and on other websites, i decided to purchase this hair dryer. i wanted something that dried my hair quickly, but had this new fangled tourmaline gem thing, as well as something ionic or ceramic for even heating. i dry my hair with a dryer every time i wash it, so any features that decrease chances of me frying my hair are a plus. i usually go for conair, but this dryer has gotten a lot of positive reviews, so i went for revlon this time!1. dries quickly, but no scalding! i have thick asian hair and have been using 1875 watt dryers for at least a decade (how else can i dry my hair under an hour?). it does tend to get pretty toasty, as some other reviews noted, but it's not more than other hairdryers i've owned. i never keep it in one spot, nor do i think you're supposed to, so burning myself hasn't been an issue at all. the cord doesn't get hot during use. (i checked after i finished drying my hair.) also, the barrel doesn't get very hot, either. immediately after using it, i felt the barrel and it was relatively cool. i could probably hold onto it while styling.2. noise level. honestly, it's not that much quieter than my last dryer before it broke, but i think the last one was designed to be quiet, too. (i've had it for a while so i don't remember) also, it's a different kind of loud. it is definitely not as loud as some other hair dryer's i've tried, so i would consider it quiet... especially on the lower settings. the loudness mainly comes from the amount of air blowing through, which is not as bad. it's bad when a dryer is loud because the fan has that high machine whine or sounds like a lawn mower. this one is just a lot of air whooshing through.3. weight. Definitely light!! love it.4. attachments. sorry, i don't really use them, but they seem like your typical diffuser and concentrator.5. the tourmaline/ionic thing. works great as far as i can tell! my hair feels super soft after i use it! it feels light. also, not to be gross, but it doesn't make my head all sweaty after i use it, either. haven't used it during the summer yet, but it's been better than my last dryer at that!i've never really used any of the expensive dryers, so i can't compare, but for this price range, it's definitely a five-star! hope it lasts as long as my last one :)

Thanks to you reviewers!
This is one of those cases where I just decided to go with the high reviews rather than the product description and it paid off. Not that this description is poor, but others ones seemed a little better fit for me. I did a lot of searching around for different hair dryers. I checked out the displays at Target and saw them in person, held them up and could see button placement, etc. I am extremely impressed with the new tourmaline ceramic curling irons and straighteners - it leaves my hair looking like a salon finish. So I wanted to check out the hair dryers too.~The dryer definitely leaves my hair softer, not as fly away and fluffy.~It is much lighter than my old hair dryer. There were a couple of other hair dryers with a different motor that were really heavy to hold, but seemed like the same quality.~I really like the attachments - they work great. The diffuser is the perfect size, not too large, not too small.~It does take me the same amount of time to dry my hair though - no difference there for me.~I like the button selection with hot and warm (I only use warm which is plenty heated for me) and high and low speed. I don't use the cold shot button - I never liked that button on any hair dryer - it's too much of pain to hold down and move the dryer around at the same time, especially if you want it a little warm, but it's there for those who do like it.~The buttons can be a little in the way of holding the dryer, but it's not enough of a deterrent for me not to love the dryer.~I personally like the little holder on the bottom, that's how I put it away - hanging upside down. Although I wish there was a way to put the cord away easily.Overall I would rank it as one of the best hair dryers on the market, probably the best in its price range.

Fabulous hair dryer for an even more fabulous price!
I have always had a hairstyle that could air dry, so I have never used a blow dryer much, and hadn't even owned one in years. When I got a new cut that required blow drying, I turned to Amazon reviews to tell me which one I should buy. I initially wanted one that cost $60, but since I didn't have that kind of money to spend, I went looking for a low-cost option that would suffice until I could afford the other one. Long story short, after using this dryer a few times, I removed the other one from my wish list. It does exactly what it needs to do: it is powerful on high and gentle on low. I use the diffuser, and it works great. Also includes a cool shot button and concentrator attachment, which function well. Seems solid (but not too heavy) and well designed. It gets a star knocked off for two small things (though I am probably nit picking a bit with these). One is that I wish the low heat setting was cooler, or that there was another lower heat option besides the cool shot button, which you have to manually hold in to use. The warm setting is still fairly hot. The other issue I have had is that the attachments are a little difficult to remove. I have found that in order to remove the diffuser without it flying across the room, I have to brace it against something and pull the hair dryer off of the attachment, not the other way around.Overall: I wouldn't bother with a $60 hair dryer. This one is a steal!

A great dryer for everyday!! This is my second one.
Initial review (fall of 2015)This dryer is great! I had a much more expensive one before (the cold shot button died on it which is why I was looking for a replacement), but this Revlon one "blows" it away - sorry - I couldn't resist :). From the first time I used it, I notice a drastic reduction in frizz. I'm very satisfied with it and would highly recommend it! The only con would be that the cold shot doesn't blow cold air right away. It takes a few seconds longer than my old one to blow cold air. For myself, for everyday drying I don't miss it. I would only miss it if I was going out somewhere special and wanted more volume, in which case, it would just require more time to allow the cold shot to get cold.June 2, 2017 updateI'm now on my second one of these. The first one lasted a year and a half. Then, the fan started going as others here have reported. I was looking at trying something new but honestly, this dryer is great and pretty inexpensive. Being light weight is important and many others I was looking at with similar features had reviews talking about how heavy they were (and I could buy 3-5 of these for the same price). I'm sticking with this one as it keeps my hair sleek and noticeably frizz-free. Perfect for my needs!

Dries very long hair for a very long time
I ordered this hair dryer in September 2016, almost 7 years ago, and it still works great!! Lightweight, easy to use. Can use high temperature or low. I do have a lot of hair and it gets the job done decently.
