One of my backpacking meal staples
I gave up buying pre-packaged freeze-dried backpacking food a couple years ago. There's only so many options out there and the quantities are never quite right, particularly if you're cooking for more than one (at a minimum, there's lots of wasteful packaging you have to pack-in/pack-out). Plus it gets expensive fast!It took some time investment to learn what I could do on my own, but I'm really glad I did. The key to do-it-yourself backpacking food is to have all of the staples you need to make most recipes in dehydrated form. Think about what you need for most recipes:-Meat (dehydrate yourself, buy freeze-dried in bulk or room-temp sausages)-Butter (substitute olive oil)-Milk/cream (powdered milk)-Cheese (powdered "cheese" -OK, it's often not actually cheese)-Grains (already dehydrated by default) - this includes noodles, rice (instant), crackers, tortillas, chips, etc.-Tomato sauce (Tomato powder - THIS PRODUCT)-SpicesThe diversity of meals you can make with the above is truly remarkable and Harmony House Dried Tomato Powder is a key to a lot of my recipes. Here's a recipe I used this past weekend that I call "Tangy Cous-Cous Spaghetti":Before the trip, in a ziplock bag combine:-1/2 cup cous-cous-Half package of Lowry's spaghetti spices & seasoning-1/8th cup (0.75 oz) of Harmony House Dried Tomato Powder-1/4 teaspoon of salt (or as desired for taste)Bring on the trail:-Above ziplock bag-4 oz of summer sausage-1/2 oz of olive oilDirections:-Bring 1 3/4 cups of water and olive oil to a boil-Once at boil, lower heat to simmer and pour in contents of ziplock bag-Stir for about 1 to 2 minutes until cous-cous absorbs all the water-Cut up summer sausage into bite size chunks and stir into pasta-Eat out of the pot - Serves 1 to 2 people (depending on if it's your entire meal)It only takes about 5 minutes to prep at home and another 5 minutes on the trail. Plus, it's a single pot meal, which means very little mess. Finally, and probably the best part is it only weights about 9.5 oz (pack weight) for over 1000 calories. You're doing well if your meals are over 100 calories/ounce.In any case, that's a long way of saying that Harmony House Dried Tomato Powder is a staple of my backpacking meal recipes and a great product.

Tomato Powder tastes like Rich Red Tomatoes & non-GMO!
Very happy to have gambled and tried Tomato Powder. Very tomato taste that is Rich. Must have been a good growing season for sweet tomatoes! Hopefully they remain consistent as I plan to buy more for later.Making my own instant soups to avoid unpronounceable ingredients that often are toxic or cancerous. Adding dried: onions/mushrooms/heavy cream/butter/organic cornstarch and some spices like garlic & onion powder, thyme, Seafood Magic seasoning, HimalayanSalt & black pepper, and package up for 2-4 servings that I only have to add boiling water. But one could use this tomato powder to anything needing more tomato flavor. Make a packet of dried items in a baggie to add to a beer for a nice Red Beer on the go. Or at home when want one serving of Vodka for a Bloody Mary, adding Celery salt and some Worcestershire sauce and drops of hot sauce without having to open a huge mix that goes to waste. My son doesn't like chunks of tomatoes in food so this serves for all the flavor and color but chunk less, when I don't want to have to open a can to purée to use. Means less dirty appliances to wash up.One must keep in mind that every growing season will not produce the exact same tasting crop. One could easily adjust level of savory with herbs or garlic or needing more sweetness add a bit of dried honey powder. I did exactly that when making a Seafood Tomato Bisque with dried shrimp & dried mock crab. Yummy! My problem is these concoctions smell so good when packaging up, I want to try them all right then! Thanks Harmony for doing all the work of bringing whole tomatoes down to a powder so that I did not have to!Highly Recommend...and I received no free nor discounted product for this review.;>)

LOVE!! Must have in my kitchen!
This is great stuff. I really love the Harmony House products so far, and I am excited to order more. I LOVE tomatoes. I use them constantly, I grow them during the summer, I drink tomato juice every day, often multiple times. I love just about anything made with tomatoes. So this product intrigued me. My first thought was to order it so if I ran out of juice or sauce or anything tomato-based, I could use this as an alternative. I don't think I will ever go without this tomato powder in my kitchen again. Here are a few of the ways I enjoy using this powder:Tomato paste substitute ( 1 teaspoon powder + 1 ts water)Delicate tomato broth (1 ts to 1 cup of water)Mixed with the Harmony House veggie soup mix it creates a hearty veggie soup ( 5 ts powder, 2 cups water, 5 TB dried veggies)Sprinkle on an English muffin and top with cheese, makes a great mini pizza snackWhen I run out of my favorite tomato juice, this is more than an adequate substitute. (3-4 ts to 1 cup of water, or to taste)I love to sprinkle it over popcorn with a little butter and salt!I can't wait to try different ways to use this, and to add to my Harmony House stash. I think with some of the onion powder, celery, etc that this would make a great Bloody Mary! Also excited to add a little of this to my white wine based Ciopinno recipe! If you are considering buying this, go ahead and do it. It really aids in creativity in the kitchen! You will not be dissapointed!

Really Tasty Tomato Powder
I used this tomato powder to boost the flavor profile of a large pot of mushroom barley soup today. I also plan to use it to make instant tomato soup. Also I expect it will be useful to boost the taste of bland grocery store tomatoes. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes to cook!
