Star ratings explained: BRIGHTNESS FUNCTION - five stars because it is bright! Very bright! TIMER FUNCTION - ZERO STARS Whats to rate???? It's a OFF timer like the Sleep function on your TV in 1972. Not a feature to brag about man, more like pimple your trying to hide. Heres the feature: You can turn it OFF in 3 hours, you can turn it OFF in 6 hours, and wait for it......you can turn it off in yes.....12 friggin hours. NICE. Oh yeah AND you can turn it OFF in NOT NEVER! hours. so.....friggin.....cool...........I Wanna do it again tomorrow, yup, press the stupid button again for 3,6,or 12. not programmable captain. WATER RESISTANCE - ZERO STARS - Its going to be around water, near water or within inches of water right? I dont want water resistance, I want water proof. Its not. I sealed mine up with aquarium silicone around the edges for my case only. I broke the rules. No tank lid and it's extended like a ballerina on a tight rope, because my tank is a too long for the size i got. My junk is hanging by metal wires one inch above certain electrfying death. The longer one is too long and that is just plain ugly. I don't buy ugly on purpose. Aesthetics over safety? in this case yes. My bad. One year of ownership and now I write my review of this light. Why? I thought to myself, this is a good time to write the best review because I have used it, abused it, dropped it on the floor, dropped it in the tank (oops), and it has gone on and off and on and off and on and off over 365 times now! What I liked. • Durability o I dropped it on the floor o I dropped it in water while lit o It has turned on and off over 365 times already and still works like new • Two sets of brackets o Plastic ones for smaller tanks o Metal wire ones for extending it to larger tanks o I needed the metal wire ones. ~ They are stiff and solid. ~ I still used some aquarium silicone to hold the adjustment in place • Brightness o No scientific way to measure in my house, but to my eyes, they are bright! o I’ve grown plants for 6 months now, no issues, but I inject CO2 and fertilize also o The description of brightness in their ad. See below for what I don’t like. What I don’t like • Brightness description on the Amazon page o Now the description says adjustable brightness and to combine the timer function to simulate day to night. Not what you think. Its an off timer. That’s it. An OFF timer. Nothing more. Not an ON timer. Not programmable. No memory. It won’t turn on in the morning and simulate night to day. You have to do that , just sit there for two hours and press the little button every 20 minutes and just sit there. And wait for 20 minutes. Make it brighter Mr. Sun, go ahead.. NOT. Get the point. Its marketing propaganda. But not a deal breaker. Just buy a programmable dimmer/timer if you want that fancy stuff. I bought one today, review coming soon. • Dimmer/timer. o Again, Its not programmable, so its just an off timer. 3 hours, 6 hours or 12 hours. What if I want 10 hours, if its what I need. It’s useless so I don’t use it. I have a WI fi plug connected to it set to come on at 9 am and turn off at 7PM, 10 hours. That cost me 4 dollars. Well worth it, but that is another review. o No memory recall after power loss and default is WHITE ON 100% | RED/BLUE ON 100% o Due to above wifi plug I use, it loses memory every night because I cut power to it. So the fish are awaken every morning by the GREAT GOD of SUNLIGHT shining through their little a*** at the peak of dawn!!!! This is an economical light, so I didn’t expect it to have a fully programmable EPROM chip installed with full dimmable capabilities at this price point. Not a negative. This product is 100% recommended for a cheap, well built, long lasting, bright LED, slim, sturdy, strong and sleek designed LED lighting fixture for your aquarium, planted or not planted. Buy it if you want all that! Thanks for reading. Ray

Quality, light and fast shipping
It really makes my Anubias planted aquarium look really good. The only thing I didn’t like was that after the timer goes off a very dim light stays on all night. Other then that it’s a Quality light.

Great product, great value.
I bought this light after a careful comparison with similar products. This item was just a few dollars more than similar products, but the alloy material that houses the light is much better than plastic used by others because it dissipates heat faster. Thus, as with many electronics producing heat, the cooler it operates, the better. In part because cooler operating temperatures will increase the lifespan of the product. And so that was a major selling point to me and well worth the few dollars extra that I paid. Another major factor is the timer, works fine, it's there if I need it, but for now, I just prefer to turn it on and off when I feel like it. The other big consideration is the fact that it is a full spectrum light, so I can use it for live plants and contributes to overall health and vigor of my fish. The all white and full spectrum modes make my fish and tank look beautiful! The other option, red and blue LEDs, (looks more red than blue) looks ok, but I haven't used it much. One of the coolest features about this product to me is that you can adjust the brightness levels/light output. Also, unlike some other options I had, this product will withstand some immediate, let's say accidental exposure to water, but of course, is not designed to be submerged very long. It is, obviously, designed to be used in a moist environment. Overall, I highly recommend this product.

Better than a typical light but nothing fancy
Compared to cheap aquarium lights that you just turn on/off this is a great improvement. With different light options (white- white red blue-and red, blue) and light brightness (5 different levels) you can help give your tank what it needs. It does have a timer too for 3 hrs, 6 hrs, and 12 hrs so you don't have to worry about forgetting. Makes things easy while on vacation. However it's nothing super fancy. There's no sunset/sunrise/moon mode. And I do wish it had an option for 8 hrs timer. When the timers up it also just puts your lights at a super low settings and not completely off. Which can be nice for some but I don't berate my fish with constant light so it bugs me. I also kind of wish it was a bit wider but it's not too terrible. It'd just disperse the light more evenly I think. For basic fish keeping Im happy with it and its great for the price.

Great aquarium light
I love this little thing. It’s bright, light weight, and has a timer. I was able to run my heater and bubbler cables/tube through the wire foot on this little light, which makes my tank look nice and tidy. I also like the splash guard over the LEDs so I don’t have to care about it getting wet. I just clean the water deposit off every few months with a paper towel soaked in vinegar. After nearly a year of use, the buttons on the switch are starting to split apart, but the light still works fine. I do wish that the timer worked slightly differently. If you select 4hrs, it alternates 4 hours on, 4 hours off, 4 hours on, 4 hours off. If you select 6hrs it alternates 6 hours on, 6 hours off, etc. Basically, each setting will have your light on for 12 hours total each day, and off for 12 hours total. All that changes is the frequency the light turns off and on. I would prefer if 6hrs had the light on for 6 hours and off for 18 hours. But that’s my literal only complaint about this light, and it could be fixed with a separate timer on the outlet.

Very nice light, better than expected
Better than expected. This light is as good or better than a very pricy brand we’ve been using the past couple of years. Colors in the tank appear brighter and sharper. Appreciate the choice of support stands, we went with the elevated plastic support. Timer option is nice too.

Good light for the price
I know there are lots of other lights that are more expensive and will do more than this light but for the price this one does everything I need. 5 light brightness levels with an option to have only the red/blue lights on (appears red). It also has a timer that I have never used. I put this on my 48" long 55 gallon aquarium and it lights from end to end.

Great little light
Exactly what I was looking for. The settings are numerous and bright. I use the lowest setting and my plants are thriving. My one complaint is the timer function seems... weird. I haven't read the instruction pamphlet to see if it is supposed to do this, but it seems to change the light from setting to setting while on timer. I noticed several times that the light was barely even on and since I wasn't sure what was going on I decided to not use the timer function. But it could be that it is supposed to do that, I'm not sure. (Going to try this again next time I'm around the house for a day). In any event, it works perfectly when I turn it on and off manually. The reviews that talk about water resistance being a problem seem to me like they must have submerged the thing accidentally or something. Esp the one where the dude is pouring water out of it (also that water looks pretty scummy so how well is that guy taking care of anything?). I mean maybe if you don't have a glass top or something on there and there is a lot of surface splash from your power filter. But wtf don't you have a top on there? That will be one contaminated tank from dust, smoke, vapors from cooking, etc. Your tank's water is picking all of that up from gas exchange with the air. This light seems decently built and I feel pretty confident it will last a good long while on top of a covered tank.
