Maisto Plastic 1:18 Scale 1936 M-B 500 K Type Specialroadster Diecast Vehicle , White

I collect these types of models and I got this one as a present. Models are a lot less expensive than the real thing, but you can still enjoy the design, and think about the process the original manufacturers went through to build their beautiful full functional cars, trucks, suv's, etc.. I have other Maisto models as well and they are good quality!

Maisto 1/18 scale die-cast cars are generally very good to excellent for the money. This one even more so than normal. The paint finish and opening panel fit are very good. The working suspension springs and steerable front wheels are a nice touch. The 500K has even more added details such as the gear select pattern on the shifter knob, and "glass" gage face covers.My example was a particularly good deal as I purchased it from Amazon warehouse for about 30-45% off the current Amazon Prime price. The car and its display box were in indistinguishable from new condition.As with most 1/18 scale die cast models this is meant mainly to be a display model. The 500Kwith its added detail would make a poor choice for a toy, it will roll and steer but surely many detail parts are bound to break off in short order . The working suspension and steering would likely hold up to drops of an inch or so, but no more. The 500K in 1/18 scale makes an imposing display piece.

I would like that the plastic details like the light and the back stuff were metal or a little bit stronger. Ie is beautiful and great fir a dift but this little details are easy to brake. So I would like the industry to change that.

Unreal.All I could think of is, "How could Maisto sell a car so cheap with this much attention to detail?"For $29.95 I wasn't expecting what I got.The detial in the interior this car is amazing, from the lense covered instrument gages on the dash board the stick shifter and pedals on the floor to the chassis beneath.The exterior styling is updated from an earlier version to include running board compartments and a spare tire on each side.This car comes with 8 wheels and all have real spokes.the engine compartment is a work of art with detailed engine components and wiring.The car also has a working suspension and the steering wheel is connected to the wheels.One con is the steering only really works in one direction. It is either a design flaw or a flaw created in packing it.Noticable when examining the car but otherwise undetectable.Even the hidden Rumble seat in the rear is detailed.The color white is perfect for this model, the previous models in red or blue would not have had the same visual effect.Due to the fact that this is not a new tool the reduced costs to produce this car gave Maisto the ability to sell this car at a price that is quite reasonable.It looks like all of the additional accessories were molded from plastic and applied to the original diecast form.Of all the Diecast Cars I have ever seen or owned this is the most visually stunning and my personal favorite.
