Big man, big land, big adventure. Western fans get all three in Yellowstone Kelly, a strife-torn saga of American soldiers and Sioux warriors in the days after Little Big Horn. Clint Walker (Cheyenne) stars as trapper and U.S. military scout Yellowstone Kelly, drawn into the conflict when he saves the life of a beautiful Arapaho girl (Andra Martin) held captive by the Sioux. She runs off, Kelly gives her shelter and all hell-for-leather breaks loose on the plains. Rich Technicolor photography provides the stunning backdrop for brawling, hoof-pounding frontier action reliably delivered by two genre greats, director Gordon Douglas and screenwriter Burt Kennedy. When sold by .com, this product will be manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. .com's standard return policy will apply.

Clint's back! "Tall as Thunder, Grim as Warsmoke"
I genuinely wanted to give this 5 stars, and I expect what I say here will annoy some people, but I feel I have to be honest...The quote from the PR blub above kind of sums up my reason for 4 stars only. The Dialogue! Frankly, Ithink it's awful. Yes, writen by the well respected Burt Kennedy, but it's full of the worst lines you have ever heard ("I have looked at you. You have looked at me" - and many many more,) somehow uttered with a straight face by the cast, who mainly are good, but Ray Danton? He looks like an Italian Spiv on Hallowee'n, with his good looks and dimple. It's not his fault, he's just miscast, as is Andra Martin covered in dark makeup as one of the least likely Indian Maids..ever. Clint is just Clint and if you like him you won't be disapointed. Claude Akins and Warren Oates are wasted in roles again spoiled by feeble dialogue. Gordon Douglas (a real good journeyman director ) directs with little imagination and it's almost like a Tv ep beefed up. I must also ask re the plot..why did Chief Gall consider it imperative to search out Kelly and bring him to his camp just so he could operate(!) on the captive girl. Did the Indians have no experience of removing Arrowhweads and bullets themselves, and didn't hey have witch doctors? Again lazy writing. OK - so - why 4 stars after all this negative criticism? Well truth is it is beautifully photographed and the DVD print is gorgeous. It is (regardless of what I say) a good old fashioned B/A western and whilst I was a bit peeved at some of it - I did enjoy most of it. Contrary?Yes, but in the final analysis I can and do recomend this with slight reservations to all western lovers, who will probably be more tolerant than I am. Oh, and thankyou Warners for releasing it in such a mint version.
