KRK Staying Reliable
I got a set of the 8" Monitors for my hobby area. My second set from KRK, the first being the 5". I simply wanted to upgrade from the 5" for a bit more juice-they served me well for 4-5 years, and continue to do so with a friend. They sound clean, a bit of idle buzzing depending on their source- but it's not a problem whence you start using them. The cabinet feels solid, and I appreciate the look of KRK's kit. The price is great- in the world of audio gear things can get very expensive very quickly- there is good value here. The control for EQ/Volume is simple to use, though I mostly forget about it.

The sweet spot of monitor sizes
Been using KRK 5" Rokits for years now and wanted to step up to the 8s because of the extended range and, to be honest, they're louder and more cool. Love the digital graphic EQ on the back, KRK speakers are well built and have a great balance. I know lots of people online complain and say they're bass heavy or whatever, but I think that's just tone geeks being pretentious. These are probably your best bang for your buck option and if you upgrade to include the subwoofer, it sounds incredible. Makes recording and mixing so much more enjoyable when you have good quality, beefy monitors. I produce heavy music and the range and durability of these help immensely.

upgrade to my lsr308 mkiis
got these to replace my lsr308 mkiis which were always mediocre quality, and i couldn't get rid of the humming amp even by fully replacing the speaker i already have 2 klipsch 12" subs so bass was not an important factor for me these speakers have amazing clarity, with a more musical sound compared to the yamaha hs8s the built in eq is easy to setup, and the app will give you a quick and dirty on how to tune the low and high end turn down the volume to -10db to get rid of the hiss, and you're golden. even for quiet listening at night, these still retain their clarity, much like my jbls. cheaper monitors usually have to be cranked up or you lose half the sound, but these are in a higher price bracket, so you should expect this. love this set. haven't had any issues yet and they're exactly what i was looking for.

Constant hiss when idle… Otherwise great!
First thought when I opened the boxes: These are huge! Not the typical studio sized speakers. That's on me for not taping out the dimensions, but be sure to check you have the room for them. First thought after powering them up: Where is this hiss coming from? I thought I could adjust with the volume, but no luck. The hiss is always there, a low volume white noise that does not go away while the speakers are powered and idle. If the speakers are facing your seated position, it's even more pronounced. I can also discern the hiss when playing quiet music. These are *near* field speakers, right? Last thought… I have tried contacting KRK (aka Gibson) for a few items and no response so far: on an unrelated power question, on the hiss, and about their app. It's been a couple weeks and still no response. They sound awesome when playing music, but that hiss may be a deal breaker. I usually leave my studio speakers powered up, but that hiss is distracting. I feel like I need to adjust something, but nothing I adjust gets rid of it. These speakers are too expensive to have ANY noise when idle, and that white noise is still there if you play something soft or quiet. For those with suggestions, please first look for other reviewers comments on the constant hiss. It's not power conditioning, not radio interference, not cable quality or balance, not adjustable using EQ or volume control. That hiss is always there, a white noise at around -70 dB. If you can stand it, then these monitors are great! If not, do not buy KRK. Final thought… I ended up returning them. The tweeter hiss was just too distracting. I got the smaller yet more expensive Neumann monitors. I’m really happy I did. Gibson/KRK never responded to any of my inquiries, and the tweeter hiss was untenable. Dropped to 3 stars.

Great Sound, Poor Construction (electronics)
The sound quality of KRK's in general is amazing paired with a proper DAC. However, they come with nasty little surprises inside. The company that manufacturers KRK's utilizes cheap, Chinese capacitors which are KNOWN for blowing/ failing causing the speakers to die prematurely (do a quick google search for KRK stopped working). In the first pic you can see how the capacitor on the power board has expanded causing the failure of my speaker and leading to it not powering on the amplifier side of the circuit. Technically this speaker is still under warranty, BUT they take almost 3 months for the whole RMA process to be completed. Being how popular the brand is and how much they charge for their speakers, KRK should REALLY start looking at customer reviews and reinforcing their weak points. Its not like its a new issue either, they've been having short circuiting issues with bad black isolation glue and capacitors since the inception of their speakers. C'mon KRK, at the very least reinforce your capacitors with Japanese ones smh. . Anywhoo - If I cant get these fixed ill be buying Yamaha from here on out. Update Jan 15 2025: Fixed the burst cap with a new one. Went up in voltage rating - 35V 1000 uf Panasonic Capacitor. Keeping the one star however as they need to fix all of their speaker lineup. If I didnt know how to solder and was running a studio would have to buy another to replace it while this is away RMA’d

Rokit 8 G4s are big bois, and they sound amazing
Extremely easy to set up, love the interface feature but truly it's the sound quality and hardware quality that impressed me the most. Solid build, beautiful design, and just wonderful audio quality all the way up and down. I like crystal clear highs and booming lows, and after a month of heavy use I can tell you that these babies can do it all and handle it well. The app is *fantastic* despite that I was extremely skeptical going on. KRK showed that really know how to help the customer feel confident with their product. At first, I was upset about a "hiss" in the speaker, but I purchased a Furman power conditioner ($90) that reduced the noise by a good ~90%. Seriously fantastic speakers, I'm hearing things that I've never heard before in my favorite tracks. I love JBL and their monitors may be slightly more affordable but I trust KRK to come through if there's ever any issues. Pro-tip, save yourself some money by purchasing the bigger speakers so you don't need a subwoofer. The 8s *BANG*, I can't imagine the 10-3s lol.

Great speakers, no Bluetooth connection.
Great quality speakers for music production or a home sound system. Item arrived well packaged and were easy to set up and install. Full digital display on active speakers make them easy to adjust. Does not have a Bluetooth connection so be aware if you thought they did. I bought an external Bluetooth connection that went into my mixing board and it works, but some sound quality was lost.
