Greatly improved wifi usage in our detached guest house
Very happy with this product. I purchased this to improve WiFi in our detached guest house which is about 100 feet from our main house and about 150 feet from our router. Prior to installing this our WiFi in the guest house was sketchy. Low transfer speeds and occasional drop outs. After installing the BearExtender we have full bars in the guest house. Download speeds increased from less than 20 Mbps to 43 Mbps (we have 100 Mbps broadband service) with no drop outs. Could not reliably stream video before, now it is rock solid. Installation was a breeze. Took all of 30 minutes from opening the box to being fully operational. By the way, the installation disk that came with my Bear Extender did include drivers for Win 10. No need to download from their web site. We will also be using this in our RV to improve access to WiFi in campgrounds. We are taking the RV out in a couple days so will report on that when we get back. All in all, very happy with the ease of use and performance of this product.Update 1/26/19 - My BearExtender worked for exactly one day. On the second day signal strength and throughput dropped dramatically. Was able to get better wifi signal with my laptops internal adapter. We were on trip with RV so couldn't do anything with it. Returned it today and will get a replacement next week. Will update again on receipt of new unit. Hope I have better results with new one.

Works as advertised, but cheap stand will instantly break
Used this to tap into the public WiFi hotspot down the street 1/4 mile away after my FINAL dispute with Unfair Point (If you have the choice, don't ever deal with them)Works as advertised, can drop out under the right conditions but I am still able to stream Netflix, etc. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because the stand it comes with instantly broke, and I mean within the first 5 mins of operation. Extremely cheap plastic that requires you to tighten the set screw so much that it breaks before it is secure. Luckily, I had an old security cam stand that fit mint and was made from metal, so no big deal. It was outside for almost a month in mountain weather with no issues until I found a closer source of internet.

I can't get good WiFi reception (if at all) in my RV which ...
I can't get good WiFi reception (if at all) in my RV which is parked a good distance away from the house I have WiFi installed. In fact, I can't even get good data signal on my phone inside. This antennae didn't help while inside but once I put it behind the electric converter box and pointed it to the plastic external door (which I opened a little for extra exposure) I'm getting good signal from half the neighborhood! The software barely took any effort to install on my W8.1 OS and the antennae was recognized and functioning perfectly without a hitch.I took two stars off because I use this on a laptop. The USB plug fits loosely inside the port (everything else fits well) and while in bed with the laptop internet is just impossible as the plug keeps losing contact and that means no internet, music or movies while in bed. Really disappointed in that.If you're using this for a desktop that isn't going to get moved at all then you're probably fine. I wouldn't recommend this for a laptop.Update: I recently bought a desktop computer and the usb fits snug. Maybe it was my laptop that was the issue. I'll now give this product a full 5 stars and highly recommend it, at least for desktop computers.

Didn't work after two uses.
The extender worked fine when I first installed it. On the road it worked for one use, then never did again. I tried to uninstall and reinstall, but I was getting the same error messages. My professional IT brother confirmed that I was going through the steps correctly. Unfortunately I missed the return date, so I'll be trashing it now. I have found a much better way to work on the road, small town libraries! Always great internet and the librarians are always so nice. I get good advice about the town and usually a free cup of coffee. Be careful about buying gizmos on-line.

Strong Signal but Failed in a Few Months
This directional amplifying reception antenna certainly brought in a stronger signal than my omni-directional antenna, but it worked for only a few months before constantly dropping the signal and requiring resetting the network adapter.

From 1 to a full 5 bars. (with 2 month update)
This device is the best 50 bucks we've spent in a long time. I am working on a boat in a boat yard and we are 1/4 mile from the office/wifi base. We were barely getting a single bar on the wifi and surfing the web was SLOOOOOOWWWWWW. So slow I didnt want to come on the web to buy parts for my boat and I would not have been able to write this review from the boat which I am doing right now. I alwayss had to wait till I got home to hit the web. This booster bump my wifi up from a single bar to 5 full bars and my surfing is at lightning speed. I was able to see 4 or 5 "other" networks before this booster and now I can see 15 of em. One of which I know for a fact is at least 1/2 mile away. (5 bars on that one and shows signal as excellent).....If you need to boost your wifi i cannot recommend the Bear Extender enough. Totally portable too, like if you wanna use it in your car. Buy it. You be happy. :)... (and I am just some Joe blow who is happy about his purchase, no affiliation to these people whatsoever).....(2 Month Update) - So here we are 62 days later and I am still thrilled to death. receiving signals as far as a mile away and speeds are just as fast as a DSL connection at home. I have the antenna sitting on my boats deck, once I install it up on the mast I expect to get even further range. (1 issue though - the lil tripod sucks, cheap ass plastic, broke just looking at it) I dont use the tripod anyway. Tie wraps !! :) ... Again, love this booster. (as I write from within my "unconnected" to shore power/wifi sailboat)

Doesn't give you true wifi
It seemed to work ok. It might have been my error but I thought it would amplify the wifi signal to our whole camper but it only gives the wifi to what its plugged in to with the usb cable, so phones and tablets its useless
