Best kitchen appliance I have bought in years!!
Growing up in a German household I always loved spaetzle. Since I moved from home I am lucky enough to live near a great German restaurant. Though the food is great, the portions are huge! So I decided to get my own spaetzle maker and attempt to recreate a taste of home. The Westmark spaetzle maker surpassed expectations! Now making spaetzle is a breeze. Now I make spaetzle as a snack because the process is SO SIMPLE. The quality of the spaetzle maker is evident from the moment you take it out of the box. It is solid, heavy (almost 2 pounds), and with few moving parts. This product will not bend or warp like other less expensive products, trust me. Since the product is fairly heavy the grooves on the front of the spaetzle maker allow you to rest the instrument on the lip of your pot of boiling water. So really all you have to do is mix up some batter, scoop it into the chamber (leaving some space so the batter doesn't pour out the sides), and press the handle down. After about 2-3 chambers full of batter you'll have more spaetzle than you know what to do with. Cleaning the instrument is a breeze too. Since I don't have a dishwasher I simply remove the pin towards the top of the maker and spray it down with hot water to remove any left over batter. Then some soap and water and you're all done. Word to the wise though: it is MUCH easier to clean this instrument if you clean it IMMEDIATELY after use. Otherwise, the left over batter will harden and you'll really have to work to remove it all. The first time I used the Westmark spaetzle maker the whole process from mixing the dough (in my blender with a dough attachment) to having cooked spaetzle took less than 20 minutes (including cleanup)! There simply couldn't be a easier way to make such a tasty treat! Simply combine 3 eggs with 2 cups of flour and 3/4 cup of milk or water, sprinkle in some nutmeg, salt, and pepper, mix, and scoop into spaetzle maker. It's so simple a child could do it! Best kitchen appliance I have bought in years!

Great potato ricer
I use this mainly for ricing mashed potatoes and it works perfectly. The build quality is excellent and there are no plastic parts to break. If anything is going to break on this it’s the pins used to connect the parts, but those would be an easy fix. Buy it for life quality. Bonus points for not being made in China.

Traditional Spätzleschwab
Classic German Spätzleschwab! Works well. Easy to clean (use cold water). Easy to use.

Ease of use!
I previously used a two piece metal spatzel grader, it took forever to make, and the noodle was very small and it was a mess. I recently bought the authentic spatzel maker press, what a huge difference. It took only an hour from start to finish and includes clean up. My noodles, if you will, were longer and turned out amazing. I was born in Germany and remember my Mom using the same, reminds me of Germany and that delicious taste of German spatzel. The very best, served with gravy. Nummy!

Works well
It is good quality, easy to use, easy to clean I plan on using this quite a bit. One dislike is there is a pin that you pull out to separate and clean out the product easier. When I was getting ready to use it, somehow the pin fell out and it took a while to find it on my kitchen floor. Luckily it didn't fall down the drain, since I was rinsing it before using it.

Good quality and thoughtful design
Our spätzle maker arrived this afternoon and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and thoughtful design. One nice feature is a ribbed tab that protrudes like a finger from the front of the spätzle maker that overhangs the lip of your boiling water and provides support as you squeeze the handle. The product is made by Westmark in Germany, has an easily removable hinge pin to allow for easy cleaning, and the extrusion template has a random pattern that produces spätzle that looks handmade. Only criticism is that this product would be stronger were it made of steel rather than aluminum: I get the sense that if you drop this spätzle maker onto the floor, the aluminum tab or handles could possibly break. Overall, a good product and we are pleased with the purchase. Time to make the sauerbraten!

Easy to use
Bought this as a gift for my son in law. He called me to tell me to ditch my slide style maker and buy this for myself. Best Christmas gift I have ever given him so far! Ordering one for myself

Good quality and works well even for gluten free noodles but the dough has to be softer than dough intended for rolling, cutting and drying - unless you happen to be a world champion strong man. I just added slightly more water to my usual gluten free recipe (chick pea flour, tapioca flour and eggs whizzed up in the magimix) which didn't affect the taste. I bought the dishwasher friendly version but it is really easy to clean anyway so long as you put it into water immediately after use - don't let the dough dry in the holes or you will have to spend time poking it out. Also best not to fill more than half full otherwise the pasta gets progressively thinner and (surprisingly) rather too long - it grows more than you would think by looking at it. Two 'half' measures seems to make enough noodles for 3 people to go with something like a Chinese meal but probably not enough for 3 for spaghetti bolognese - but then we are all a bit greedy in our house. One word of warning - don't try using it for pasta you want to dry for another day, you can't separate it after squeezing, it really does have to go straight into boiling liquid. Might try doing crispy noodles by squeezing the dough into hot oil but suspect it could get a bit messy.

The unit works well but be advised this thing is large, it weighs nearly 2 pounds and is 16+ inches long, so if your storage space is limited this may not be for you unless Spätzle is something you plan to eat on a regular basis. That said with normal use it could easily last a lifetime but if Spätzle is something you only make once in a while something simpler that would store more easily might be a better option

Up until now we have been borrowing my sister's spaetzle maker. Hers was my great-grandmother's straight from Germany. It's old but it's the real deal. I was very happy to search Amazon and find this one and with such great reviews! I was not disappointed. We used it last night and it made very good spaetzle. It is actually is better than my great-grandmothers (but we won't tell my sister that)! There is a coating on the press that makes the clean up of the sticky (but yummy) dough a breeze! And to top it off made in Germany!! The price, fantastic! I have always been told to purchase this directly from Germany and ship it to Canada would be very costly. Definitely over $100+. So when I saw it for $70 I jumped at it! Highly recommended!!
