This reel might be OK for an ice fishing rig but has no business for a long rod and distance casting at all. I actually bought an ice fishing R & R set at Farm Fleet for about half the price of this reel and it had the same reel on it. I sent it back and bought a better one for about $5 more. I would not recommend this reel. Sorry Uncle Buck.

Excellent ice fishing reel

This is a perfect reel for ice fishing. It is not intended for casting. Why anyone in their right mind would buy it for that reason is beyond me. It is great for some one that is left hand retrieve.

A nice little real for the price

A nice little real for the price. If I want more line or if I need to real in a fish I have the ability.

Don’t waste your money on this reel.

First time using this real and the line got wrapped up in a gap between the spool and the housing. This was the same experience a friend had. Had they told me before I bought it, I would not have wasted my money. Would not recommend this product to anyone.

Not a baitcaster

Not made for bait casting. It is basically just line storage for jigging. Works perfectly for the job it is intended for.
