A great addition to any board game closet.
Wonderful, simple game with beautiful art and high quality components. I’ve had fun playing it with friends and family... one of these days I’ll get around to trying the one-player version. It’s easy to learn and fairly quick, too! I can see the comparisons to Sagrada, but this one doesn’t take quite as much brain power.

Nice family game.
Love this game, easy to play and teach. I taught my friends that aren't that into games and they enjoyed it too. The dice are really bright and colorful.

Don’t buy for solo mode
Multi player is fun but it’s easy for players to take a long time on their turn analyzing the board. I bought this for solo mode and am very disappointed. It feels like very little effort went into creating the solo rules. It’s nearly impossible to beat. I’ve played it 6 times and haven’t come even close to winning.

I love this game
Noctiluca is one of my favorite games. It is very easy to learn and play. It does have a lot of dice, so it does not make a good game to play on the road. It is a family favorite for sure!!

Noctiluca
Played this game at PAX unplugged. It's fun, entertaining and fast. Simple matching and strategy game. Lots of small colorful dice to play the game. Be careful not to lose any.

Noctiluca Shines and That's Not Just Bioluminescence
This game and Shem deserves more credit than given to date. Noctiluca is not merely a Sagrada wanna-be. We find it to be an incredibly challenging dice puzzle uniquely blended with an area control & set collection race element not unlike Jaipur. The entirely novel theme turns what would be a potentially bland abstract into a beautiful and pleasing creature collecting endeavor. Our copy had some dice missing pips, but otherwise the quality is quite good. It's great at 2P and 3P, but can be a bit slow if AP prone players join you at 4P. We'd like to see an expansion that provides additional ways to garner VPs, a way to store over-drafted dice for future use and more player interaction like stealing their most prized Noctiluca. Of course you cannot compare Noctiluca to AotWK, Paladins or Raiders in either mechanics or complexity or you will surely be disappointed. However, if you can appreciate this game unto itself, you'll be in for a real brainy treat.

Totally worth it
Wonderful game. Simple enough that you can explain it to someone that's never played a designer board game before but deep enough that even diehard boardgamers can appreciate it.
