Great customer service
We have ordered caterpillars the past 6 years. Usually we get 7 caterpillars per cup (x2) and have been lucky enough to be able to release all 14 butterflies. This last order we were not so lucky. We had 2 cups (14 caterpillars total), but some of the caterpillars did not make it, some didn't make it through the chrysalis phase, and then a couple butterflies died before being released (after a few days). We were only able to release 3. We were bummed. Never had that happen before. We reached out to the seller and within days, they sent us 14 caterpillars! I know they can't control what happens to these live critters, but really appreciated the fact that we get a second try. (Guaranteed 6). Great customer service.

Wonderful Educational Experience for Preschoolers!
I purchased this butterfly larvae kit for a preschool classroom activity, and it exceeded all expectations! The children were absolutely fascinated by watching the caterpillars grow, form their chrysalises, and eventually emerge as beautiful butterflies. It was an engaging and hands-on way to teach them about the life cycle of insects.

All alive!
Received 14 instead of 10 and all of them are alive 2 days later! They are growing quickly so far. It’s fun to watch them grow. While it’s probably still early to leave a review, what happens moving forward is in my care. As for delivery and packaging, they arrived safely and quicker than expected :)

Some didn't make it
We've been ordering caterpillars since 2020, but usually from a different company. This year we ordered 2 cups from this seller. The caterpillars arrived ok. All seemed well until it was time to turn into the chrysalis. The caterpillars in 1 cup turned just fine, the cartepillars in the second cup clearly have had some genetic mutation going on. Two of them never turned into a chrysalis. They just hung upside down, but didn't pupate. And one of the ones that did turn into a strange looking chrysalis was born with a caterpillar head. He will likely not make it long after being released as I'm not sure it can feed. We might end up just euthanizing it just so it doesn't suffer.

The black one is dead.
I have always had great success with my caterpillars, however this year 8/14 made it to butterflies. Several of the caterpillars did not make it to chrysalis form. They died attached to the top of the cups before they could transform.

traumatic and disappointing.
when i received my caterpillars, i got 2 more than the promised 5, totaling 7. 1 was much smaller than the rest, but i had hope for it as it still ate and moved around and such. the kit itself was very nice, everything came as promised, and i enjoyed watching the caterpillars move around in their little home. the first caterpillar began forming its chrysalis around 3 weeks after i received them, a little longer than the said time. but, i figured the rest would follow suit. another 2 did, meanwhile, the little one died. the remaining 3 did not seem to want to join their siblings any time soon. that is when the cannibalism occurred. a chrysalis was knocked down, and one of the caterpillars ate it. extremely traumatic. i did not want this to occur again, so i moved the other two fully formed chrysalises to the butterfly garden, replacing the cloth with a paper towel for the remaining 3. it took another week for anything to happen. the caterpillars one by one stopped moving, and i figured they were dead. however, when looking closer, i noticed they were becoming chrysalises on the ground of the cup! i gave them 24 hours before trying to move them into the garden, as i still had hope they would turn out. when i moved the first, i noticed it was only half formed, and dead. the other was fine, and i moved it. the third and final caterpillar left was dead, hadn't even begun to change. very disappointing. another 2 weeks went by, and the first butterfly began to emerge. very exciting! except, it didn't make it out. it got half of the way out before it stopped moving all together. i let another 2 weeks pass, and had no luck with any of the others. this whole experience was very disappointing and traumatic. i thought raising butterflies would be a fun quarantine activity, but all it gave me was more sadness. keep in mind, i did nothing wrong with these little guys. i followed the directions perfectly, even when i had to move the 2 chrysalises without the others. im hoping i just got a bad batch, and that i didn't curse them with my terrible luck with living things. im having a funeral for them soon. hoping to get caterpillars from another company so the butterfly garden will not go to waste. needless to say, i do not recommend this kit. in the reviews it seems to be very hit or miss, and i think a younger child would be a whole lot more traumatized by cannibalistic caterpillars and mass caterpillar death than a very childish teen like myself.
