Review: This was bought for my teenage daughter but even i learnt something - Love the photo examples in the book along with detailed routines on skin care. My daughter asked me for something like this a while ago and I struggled to find something that was a good all-rounder. which, this is. it covers lots of useful information. I have gone through the book to make sure it's suitable as she is a young teenager learning about make-up and skincare. I thought it was such a great book that a few notes for myself and I am in my 40s. I think this is great for wanting to know about double cleansing and in which order to apply creams in the AM and PM. It is also great if you are new to self-care and want to start looking after your skin so whether you are in your 20 to 40+ there is something in there for you. It covers cleaning routines, cream application, use of acids, retinol, and SPF just to name a few. Review: An Absolute Must For Your Bedside Table - I’m just taking my first look through this book and, on first impressions, I’m really pleased with my purchase. It’s well set out, easy to read, in fact I feel like I’m sat with Caroline whilst she talks me through things, and is refreshingly honest in its views. I’m in my 50’s and have always wore makeup and had a skincare routine. As I’ve got older I’ve become more invested in my skincare, but have always been conscious of fads and products that make outlandish claims. But there are that many different products out there for us to use, and in what order, it can all become quite confusing. From what I’ve read so far, this book helps to sort out all those beauty facts and myths. I’ve already learned a few new things I wasn’t aware of, and I can see myself referring to this book on a regular basis. I especially like the way it has been worded and the tone and language used. I’d say this is the best beauty book I’ve ever read and would highly recommend to anyone interested in beauty. I wish this book had been available as I was setting out in life. I would have loved a book like this in my 20’s. That said, skincare has come on a lot since the 80’s, with a lot more products having been developed, such as serums, and all the new acids that are more beneficial than the word acid would have you believe. If you have a teenage daughter or niece, I would recommend this book as a skincare bible to give them all the right information as early as possible and set them on their path to great skincare through each decade of their life………

Fantastic book written by an amazing woman
I have followed Caroline for a few years, so when I saw she was bringing out a book I couldn’t wait to pre order. I am obsessed with anything to do with skincare and absolutely love testing out new products and researching them. This book is fantastic, lots of great things said by Caroline and it is incredibly informative. It’s a Skin Bible. I appreciate that she talks about black skin also, since I’m a black woman sometimes I find it hard to find reviews who are black on the products I’d like to buy, everyone likes to come across someone who can relate to them and thankfully Caroline references her friend Dijah in the book who is amazing too. If you’re obsessed with skincare and want to increase your knowledge on all things skincare with a bit of wit then this book will be perfect for you. It comes in a bright yellow and white colour which is unique, really stands out and I love it!

This book has changed my skin in less than a month
I bought this book some time ago, but due to working a lot, I only really got a chance to read it over the festive break. The advise is clear and no nonsense. It spells out what to use and when and also addresses some myths of the skincare industry. There is an accompanying facebook group where you can also get advice from others who are reading the book, about which brands and products worked best for them etc. This book is great for people of any age - even if you are in your 20's, you will be wanting to preserve your youthful skin for as long as possible and this tells you how!

Great book for beginners
I'm a skincare beginner, having dabbled in the odd blogs recommending acids and serums before. Now, I decided to take it more seriously and purchased this book. So pleased I did. On occasion it can be repetitive, but the no-nonsense approach is straightforward and she doesn't just explain what all these ingredients are, she tells you what skin type/complaint/result and age it's good for. That's what I needed. I was fed up on spending money on expensive products based on reviews that I took it back to basics, used this book as research and now (hopefully) I'm on a better route to great skin. She recommends some products but doesn't oversell them. It's unbiased (given she has her own skincare brand with Pixi) and easy to understand. I expect I'll refer to this again and again, and will be buying it for a few friends!

Love Caroline Hirons, love everything she says and her approach! This book is truly a "no nonsense guide" to skin care, it's perfect for people who have zero knowledge to people to have a great grasp on their skin care routine. You can use this book as a reference book, for example, I wanted to add a facial mist to my routine I simply went to that section in the book to understand the benefits and then had a look at some of the ones suggested in that section! It also has a lot of other useful information if you do just want to read it as well. I have had it just under a month now and I have added 3 now products to my routine including a retinol and honestly I have started to notice a difference already! If you want to shake up your routine or understand the products you are currently using better or if you simply love Caroline Hirons and skin care - just buy the book! You won't regret it!

I'm a beauty therapist (retired) and other than my training books this is the best skincare book I've read - and I think I've read them all, I'm a passionate beauty junkie. Caroline's book is uncomplicated but by no means too basic, she covers everything in an honest, chatty way. There's no hype, boring 'my journey' tales, no celebrity name dropping and I bet she knows lots, no pushing of her products and she is realistic that people have budgets. Her enthusiasm, except for wiles is contagious and very easy to follow on cleansing, exfoliating, moisturising and suncare. Different skin types conditions and problems are covered . I bought it on Kindle as too impatient to wait for the book and it is very well set out. Thankyou Caroline and hope you do one on make up one day, once you've got over this book.

After finding Caroline Hirons' on YouTube and Instagram, I knew I wanted to have her book on my bookshelf. What she doesn't know about skincare isn't worth knowing! It's a book absolutely filled with information, which is clear, concise and doesn't talk down to you. The information is broken down into ages/skin conditions/skin concern etc and easily a book you can dip in and out of for when you need advice. There are also recommendations for certain skincare products. This is a must have book for anyone really interested in their skincare and getting the most out of the products they use.

I don't understand any of the negative reviews here. I haven't read the author's blog, but of course, the material in the book would be similar unless the author has changed her opinion about something. I think this is a great book. I've been searching Amazon for a comprehensive book on skincare and skincare products, and this is, by far, the best. The author covers skin types, skin problems, skincare routines, where we should be spending the bulk of our skincare budget, skincare myths, and so much more. This is definitely not a book for estheticians or chemists working in the skincare industry. Hopefully, those persons already know everything contained in this book. This is a book for the non-professional, the everyday woman or man. And, it's written in a down-to-earth, easy-to-read style that any educated person can understand. The author is, at no time, crude. She doesn't coddle the big brands; she tells it like it is, but she is never crude about it. For me, at least, she comes off as an honest, truthful person, who would be fun to get to know. This isn't a book about makeup, nor does the author doesn't write much at all about the various skincare devices that are flooding the market today. She writes about skincare: cleansers, toners, serums, moisturizers, etc., and who needs which ones and why. A book on skincare and the products necessary for good skincare is exactly what I wanted. When I'm not performing on stage, which requires heavy makeup, I tend to favor a more natural look and give my skin a rest, but even if I'm only wearing tinted moisturizer, mascara, and lip gloss, my skin is still being nourished by the toners, serums, and other products I've used before I put on my "minimalist's palette" of makeup. You might not agree with everything in this book. I didn't. The author eschews cleansing brushes in favor of washcloths, and I love cleansing brushes, especially silicone cleansing brushes. But that's okay. I don't think any reader is going to agree with everything the author says. The important point, in my case, at least, is that we both agree that the skin has be thoroughly cleansed morning and night, every day. I think anyone who is new to comprehensive skincare and is trying to figure out what cleansers, toners, essences, serums, moisturizers, sleeping masks, etc., to buy and when to use them will benefit enormously from reading this book. I am not new to comprehensive skincare, and I found a lot in the book to help me, a lot I didn't know. I know I'll refer to the book again and again. If you're new to skincare and find the vast array of products overwhelming, and they certainly can be, or if you just want to know more, try this book. I think you'll be delighted.
