PowerVision Powerdolphin Standard Water Surface Drone with 4K UHD Camera & Mobile Device Joystick

This was the first time I had the chance to use a water drone. I received the PowerVision Power Dolphin Standard version for free as part of the Amazon Vine Program in exchange for my honest review. Because I never operated a water drone before I have nothing to compare to this drone. However, my overall experience with this drone has been more than satisfactory. It has a 4K camera which takes very very good photos and videos underwater. However, based on the cleanliness of the water the picture you receive will vary. The camera records video at 30 fps which is great but 60 fps would be awesome. The drone moves on the water much faster than you would expect (about 10 mph). This surface water drone is pretty good at handling water and keeping itself afloat. It works with the APP pretty well and without annoyances. In case you are losing control or missing the drone the return home button will be very helpful. The battery life is amazing as it lasts more than 1.5 hours. Powerdolphin is very fun to play with. Even if you are not fishing it is still very enjoyable to just ride it on the water and take underwater pics. It can be really fun for kids too. I am more than satisfied with it and I would recommend it.

Purchased this due to high marks from several websites. Received and tested. It worked once. Second time I tried it thrusters were locked and could not get a connection to my phone. Unit started beeping whenever the battery was inserted. Power button would not work at all. Only way to stop the beeping was to pull the battery. I contacted PowerVision support who gave me RMA info, then immediately received another email stating I had to go thru Amazon. I have called the customer service number numerous times and still have not received a call back. I finally got an email response after getting Amazon to pressure them and now it has been 2 weeks of back and forth with them sending me back and forth to different departments. Bad product, worse customer service DO NOT BUY!!!

Purchased with high hopes. Made my test voyage in a small decoratiive pond. Seemed to go fine. Got home and let it dry. Turned it on to make some control changes and it said it had water damage and needed service. Returning it. I need better reliability.

This drone is worth every penny. We received the PowerVision Power Dolphin Standard version and I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. I love photography and we live near a bunch of lakes so I thought this would be a fun way to explore the water but it turned out to be so much more. This is a surface water drone not an underwater drone. It has an incredible 4k camera that can be tilted up for surface cinematography or tilted down to take videos and photo under the water. The camera and video quality is top notch. It includes sonar which makes it awesome for locating the right fishing spots or finding underwater objects/depth. There are some great features for this price point that make this highly functional. The self-righting flipping capability works great and resolves my biggest concern about other surface drones. I can't tell you how many times I had to swim out to rescue my other drone which would capsize all the time. This drone performs well in choppy waters without the risk of having to swim after it. It has an accurate range of around 350 feet and a single button home function which is very useful. Overall, it performs perfectly and makes going to the lake even more fun!

Company is out of business and their support email bounced back and phone is disconnected. App on iOS and android compains of network exception since servers are down. Do not buy.

This really added an extra level of fun to our river day recently. As a homeschooling family, we try to get out and about and have adventures that naturally lead to teachable moments, or just moments that inspire curiosity. This surface drone, controllable by our cell phone, was a lot of fun! This thing is great! The instructions are sparse, so it took a bit of trial and error to figure out what needs to happen. The battery needs to go into the compartment, then have the two sides of it lifted up to go farther in, which is counterintuitive. It looks like those should be raised as handles to pull it out. The battery has an on button as well as the device. The phone app uses the boat like a wifi host. Registration was just an email address and verification code. The app, like the instructions, is simple and universal symbol heavy, so it takes a while to figure out what you're supposed to swipe where to get everything running. The app defaults to a different device, and doesn't make it very clear that there's a second page you can swipe to to get to this one. When it says swipe right to unlock the device, it means move the little center ball on the screen over to the unlock icon to the right, not just swipe right on the screen. Once it's all connected and in the water though, it's responsive and competent. I took it to the river and zoomed around on manual. I switched it to underwater photography mode, and it slowed down to a sedate enough pace that I could actually see and control where I was taking pictures, and they came out very nice. Note that this thing doesn't dive, it just zooms around like a boat with a camera that can be adjusted to above or below the water. Putting it in AI mode and setting waypoints was impressive. I immediately saw a very clear and detailed view from above that looked more like it was taken from a helicopter than a satellite. I was able to set waypoints, and then it very quickly zoomed through them. I get the feeling the accuracy is only within ten feet or so, and it really moves, so be careful with this or the auto-return that it doesn't just slam into something nearby if it's within the margin of error. At one point I grounded it with the auto-return and it didn't quit. Not a bad product. Most of my complaints are in the instruction clarity department, which is pretty minor once you get things figured out. Overall it is a fun new toy and will be great to have one more adventurous thing to bring when we hit the river this summer.

I'm almost entirely unhappy with this drone. It is the most difficult thing to control. The camera is poor quality when underwater and any type of "wave" will make this lose control.
