I've been able to trust Bessey to produce products with correct tensile strength, threaded gears that don't strip, and controls with a very positive feel that simplify making adjustments.

These are the best clamps. Easy to use and work well.

These Bessey GSCC2.512 clamps punch way above their price. The clutch plates bite instantly, the 600-lb hold is legit, and the ergonomic handle makes final torque easy. Smooth bars, no slip, reliable every time—my go-to 12″ clamps.

Overall good clamps. More flex in the bar than others I have, but works well for most of the projects I do. I doubt the force rating on these are what is claimed, but nothing these days is like it used to be.

There are better clamps out there, including from Bessey, and there are cheaper clamps, but I think these are the best balance of price vs quality. (Of course using the right type of clamp for the job matters too.) I got some similar clamps on ebay for a fair amount less, but the quality just isn't there. The finish on the jaws has big globs on it, the clutches are harder to release and aren't consistent from clamp to clamp, and the protective pads are flimsy and don't stay in place at all. They still work, but I don't think I'll be getting any more of them. Bessey also has similar, more expensive clamps without the clutch, that you just rock to move. That gives a little more convenience, but at least for my level of amateur woodworking, it's not worth the extra money. Then there's the really nice parallel clamps which are in a whole different class. I may get four of those for certain jobs that need them, but I certainly can't afford to stock up on them. These clamps have a nice, consistent finish, feel solid, have good pads, and can also apply a lot more force than regular quick-clamps. Yet they're still cheap enough that you can afford to get a large number of them.

The 2.5" clamps only have 600 lb clamping power and I find them only good for little items. The 5 and 7" clamps are rated1350 lbs. and they are worth every penny. However, this 3.5" line is rated at 1100lbs and are almost half the cost of their big brothers. These are the best bang for the buck until you need greater depth or more power. These are good for 85% of what I need F- clamps for. 15% of the time I need the big boys.
