Go wireless with powerful sound!
We wanted a wireless solution for our small Church congregation and this IS the perfect solution! We play our recorded sermons and hymns from an iPod through the Bluetooth to the speaker. Although we tried a wireless microphone (which worked well), we settled on using a wired microphone that uses phantom power (very important) and plugs into one of the two available XLR/1/4" mic jacks. This PA Speaker is so awesome that I am purchasing a second one for use in a bigger sized meeting place. I would recommend buying a compatible stand like this:6 FT. Universal Tripod Speaker Stand Mount, Height AdjustableThe unit is about 3 feet tall but has a nice recessed carry handle built into the back. I've seen other reviewers here complaining about the Bluetooth range, but I have had no problems with it. I believe Bluetooth generally has a 10 meter or 32 feet radius. If you require a further distance, you could cable connect with a longer cable! We had previously been lugging around a mini mixer board, control deck, and wired speakers. This speaker eliminates all of that! We just plug it in, turn it on, plug in the mic, pair the iPod, and begin Church Services!****UPDATE: August 9, 2018****Please disregard my comment about phantom power:"Although we tried a wireless microphone (which worked well), we settled on using a wired microphone that uses phantom power (very important) and plugs into one of the two available XLR/1/4" mic jacks."Updated comment should read:"Although we tried a wireless microphone (which worked well), we settled on using a wired microphone that plugs into one of the two available XLR/1/4" mic jacks."These speakers are still performing above expectations!

Great Speaker for Small to Medium Applications
I'm very happy with this speaker. I bought a pair of the Alto Professional TS112A's three years ago and have been pleased with them, so I thought I'd give these a try for smaller gigs. I like the fact that they are light plus that they are tall so that I don't have to lift up a heavier cabinet as far. They have a very natural sound and enough clarity that vocals come through very nicely with a good dynamic mic. I normally use a Shure SM86 stage condenser mic to avoid the muddy sound that a lot of male vocalists get, but as this does not have phantom power I used my Beta 57 and it sounded great. It is not prone to feedback when used close enough and behind to use as a monitor, simplifying the setup process even more. Keep in mind that the volume controls on the back, as on others that have the XLR/1/4 inch inputs, are designed for both line level and mic signals; microphones will have to be cranked up well passed the midpoint to compete with active signals. To get the full potential of mics you might want to consider using a small mixer for effects and more convenient control. I also auditioned a Mackie Freeplay and am I glad that I chose this. For the same price you get true stereo (with two of these) and standard power cords, not wall warts. The only advantage I could see to the Mackie was the option of battery power.

Do not get if you need the mic connected to the unit...
Great concept, but the main reason for the items is speaking and the microphone does not work. Terrible feedback if you turn it up past 4 (out of 10). I tried customer support but they did not help. I tried to return it and they refused my return. I found it did work if I used my own microphone and the mic stand did not touch the unit or table it was sitting on. It must be on a freestanding mic stand. Just FYI. Major defect in design or construction.

Great sound across all ranges, easy to operate, and easy to carry (set-up in three minutes).
The Alto Professional Trouper is everything you need in a PA system in one very light, portable, and powerful package. Its 200-watt power output is clean across all ranges (high and low) and the product is extremely portable. I am a violinist / fiddler and I purchased the Trouper for solo venues where I am all alone on stage playing with recorded accompaniment. I needed a clear and pristine sound across all ranges and I needed something that was easy to carry, powerful, simple, and flexible enough to allow for a microphone, my instrument, and a media source (the recorded music). Because the Trouper has a built-in 3-channel mixer, this is very easy. However, one of the best parts of the Trouper is the Bluetooth! Now, I can have my music recorded on any Bluetooth device (a tablet, a smartphone, etc.) and I can easily speak or sing into a microphone, play my connected instrument, and have recorded music playing. I believe, for this very affordable price, you can do no better than the Trouper. I consider it to be the best product to meet one of the essential needs of every musician. At my last concert, I arrived and was ready to perform in under three minutes. My system sounded better than any of the more expensive PA systems at the venue.

Gooseneck a total waste
Bought this for meetings, and from the moment I fired it up it was obviously non-functional. The gooseneck microphone created such a strong feedback loop that you couldn't turn it up loud enough to be heard without very significant squealing. Swapped out the gooseneck for a corded microphone and it worked well. Signal strength is good, and the case seems durable and well made. Not the most portable thing I've seen, but it's practical for addressing small groups (as long as the included microphone is in the garbage can.)
