Very stable and fits both horizontally and vertically
The mount device holds my smart-phone very stable. The sticky pad is VERY strong, even though only about 50% of it touches my dashboard due to the curvature. (No need to use the 3M adhesive portion.) As the instructions say, to remove it from the dash, use a credit card to lift an edge and then pull off.The device holds my LG Stylo 2 Plus with a thick wallet cover. I open the wallet and put the open cover in the space behind the phone. Works perfectly. The device can also open high enough to put the phone in vertically. (That was a pleasant surprise.) With the wallet cover attached, the phone projects far enough beyond the bottom lip of the holder so a charging cord can be attached. Without the cover, that wouldn't be possible. The mount has a low enough height when open that it doesn't interfere much with viewing the road, which was very important to me.The updated version rotates, but that wasn't important to me. This one stays exactly where it's put with no bouncing or lifting. I'm very happy with it.

Despite Defective pin in the hinge. Replacement GREAT!!
When I removed it from the plastic bag a pin on the hinge fell out and wont stay in. I'm getting a replacement because I've liked WizGear products in the past. Hopefully this one was just a defective fluke. I'll update later when I have the replacement. ***update** Returned the defective one, and now I have to wait 10-14 days for a replacement when the original arrived in 3 days!!! What kind of customer service is that? **Update-- I received my replacement in 9 days. This one has good hinge pins. Just installed on my dash. I first cleaned the dash with rubbing alcohol. The holder seems to stay attached with only the suction cup portion. So far I have not needed to remove the film from the 3M tape portion. I'm impressed by this because my dashboard has a slight texture. The holder also has a nice textured appearance on the cover so it looks like it belongs on my dashboard. See last photo. Opens easily and holds my phone very securely and I can adjust the angle of my phone if necessary. Super happy so far even though I had to wait 9 days for this replacement. Uping my rating to 4 stars. *** update*** Now giving 5 stars . This has been installed for 4 months now and it has NOT come loose or fallen off at all even thru the heat of summer!!!! Absolutely LOVE it!

Good looking solid cell / GPS holder
Nice professional textured finish ... it does NOT look cheap. Heavy for it's size with a thick base. With the round base it was easier to find a large enough flat surface on my dash. Since the Prius (2013) dashboard is famous for nothing sticking to it, after cleaning with alcohol, I used both adhesives including the center 3M ... very solid ... I can open the top without holding onto the base without coming off the dash. The base does NOT rotate. True test will be when my car is sitting in the hot sun. Fits my medium size Samsung cell phone with case. Also fits vertically but not certain how much stress this will put on the hinge and spring long term. It also holds solid my medium size Garmin GPS which is thicker ... that often fell off my windshield suction mount. Just ordered a second one, to use for my GPS and cell phone at the same time.

FOR A BIKE? Yep!
after several really-didnt-like phone/gps mounts for my bike, a Kaw ZG1400 Concours, I thought - hey, what about one a these things and stick it right to that plastic cover top front of gas tank?. welp- it worked out great. this is the smallest one you'll find and thats a Garmin 5 inch GPS which all works out great for a compact space like this.I wanted it as far forward as I could get it, but I had to have lock to lock handlebar clearance. and I do.even the standard shorty cord it comes with reaches the USB twin socket I have in the 12v (lighter) on right inside of fairing. hah.yes, I gave it a good long shakedown ride, and it never even vibrated or moved, even at higher RPM's.that area is not subject to any wind flow and is on a rubber mounted cover, but results were spectacular.I didnt even use that 3M sticky spot in the middle, just the outer round sticky-pad, an it's fine.when I leave bike, just remove GPS lock it up or take it, cover closes looks just like part of the bike in matching black plastic. Purr-fect.pics you'll see I have it set at the back setting angle. you have two choices of angle. this steeper angle allows the top lid to shade it, and gives a better angle for me looking down., and I added a small black bungee with a ball on it, that wraps out around the top edges for extra security that the lid stays down snug on GPS, an also holds it in side to side just to be sure.

Fantastic addition to a car
First off - these are great! I have these in three cars so far and my in-laws are now going to order one.My car has Android Auto and Apple Carplay features but sometimes it takes a bit to connect the cord for quick directions. Also, I like maps to be a bit higher on the dashboard so I can see them better when I drive. This worked perfectly as a phone holder centered in the car. I can see my phone when it is in the holder but the stand folds down and out of the way when it is in use. Highly reccommend.A few of my pre-purchase concerns.1. Do I really want to stick something to my dashboard? Answer - not really but now that I have, I would do it again in a heartbeat. I don't ever want to remove this.2. Do I really want to see maps in landscape. Answer - I thought I would not like it but found, in practice, it makes very little difference. It works for me just as well as looking in portrait mode3. Is it sturdy? Answer - It seems really sturdy and I have put it through temperatures from below freezing to 107 degrees without issues. We have put phones in and taken them out a lot. Like, at least weekly, and it still works like new.

Easy one handed use, sun protection
Phone kept overheating on my dash with other mounts but have not had a problem since switching to this. Secured to my dash using this sticky pad I bought before, but using both the sticky pad and the adhesive that comes with this mount, it is stuck on my dash like a rock. The clamshell opening is easy to use one handed and phone feels secure, as long as you don’t mind only using landscape mode.
