The Best
Yes they are a bit pricey but the quality makes them worth every cent. They are absolutely delicious and I couldn't make Sunday gravy without them. My first order of these from Amazon arrived completely destroyed, the carrier must have dropped them from a decent height and popped 11 of 12 cans, but I phoned Amazon and they rushed me out a new shipment as soon as they received the packaging feedback and photos of the mess. Since I have received 2 more cases in perfect condition and on time. If it requires tomatoes then you'll need these. :) My whole family Loves this brand. They've added basil leaves.

One of the best tomatoes ever
A bit pricey but you can't put a price on greatness . You'll be surprised at the quality , texture and taste of this product, I only wish they made diced and sauce from the same tomatoe. I do recomend trying this brand. Just to add a little more to this review. I tried sauteind chicken breast and then adding a can of tomatoes and one can of sauce and cooked the chicken the rest of the way, and served it over white rice. What a taste , and the best part is the whole meal takes about 1 hr, maybe an hour and 15 min, depending on the thickness of the chix.

I'm a fan!
If you're making sauce at home, San Marzano is the way to go. DOP means they're certified from San Marzano. This means tomato companies have to approach an association/board to obtain special approval to call themselves San Marzano. These, apparently, are DOP. I haven't done an exhaustive search and compared DOP tomatoes side by side. That said, I've purchased about 5 brands so far and these are my favorite. They're light, fresh, and just the right mix of sugar and bitter. The only thing I'd change is probably the basil leaf. Excellent price on Amazon, perfect for sauce. I'm going to attach a couple photos with more comments.

EXCELLENT TASTING!!!
OVERALL, THIS IS AN EXCELLENT PRODUCT! THE TOMATOES ARE FABULOUS!!! BEST CANNED TOMATOES I HAVE EVER HAD! THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THE PRODUCT IS THAT THE CANS ARE DENTED. MY FIRST ORDER THERE WAS 'MAJOR' DENTING AND I DIDN'T USE THEM, BUT AMAZON MADE IT RIGHT FOR ME SO I ORDERED ANOTHER AND WHEN THIS BATCH ARRIVED THERE WAS ONLY MINIMAL DENTING ON TWO OF THE CANS. SO OTHER THEN THE DENTING THIS IS A WONDERFUL PRODUCT!

This is not D.O.P! Bait and switch?
When I googled DeLALLO San Marazano tomatoes D.O.P., I read great reviews so I ordered them from amazon. When I received the order it now says San Marzano STYLE NOT D.O.P. The price is higher than other brands of D.O.P. San Marzanno tomatoes and is NON RETURNABLE. DELALLO actually makes a true authentic D.O.P. which is actually also available .

Rather bitter
I used these tomatoes to make a marinara sauce. I found the tomatoes rather bitter. I have used San Marzano's in the past many times and these were not up to the same standards. I bought a case so I will see if the other cans suffer the same bitterness. The cans arrived packaged well and were not dented. I prefer the Titina brand DOP San Marzanos. Frankly, the Muir Glen brand, including the fire roasted which I mix with the plain when making a sauce, are tough to beat. Muir Glen also came out with a 2012 Halley reserve tomato brand which are sold diced. These are excellent and the chunks are large, meaty and very tasty. August 18, 2013 update: OK. I updated this review and gave the product 3 stars. The two other cans I used were not bitter like the first two so I'll chalk those up to a bad can or two. I still cannot give a stronger endorsement than 3 stars as the tomatoes simply were not special in any way. The comparisons I made above hold still. I would go with the Muir Glen.

Great canned tomatoes best you can buy
Best canned tomatoes you can buy. I use these mostly for sauces but you can use them for anything that calls for canned tomatoes. They come whole in the can with a couple of basil leaves. I usually crush them by hand and remove the basil before cooking. Taste wise they are much sweeter than American brands and less bitter.

disappointed
Saw a video and these tomatoes looked great. and the reviews were good. But, many, many seeds. Tomatoes "mushy" More liquid than tomatoes. Saw review, that her tomatoes were packed and many. I did not find that. Again, many seeds, very soft. Taste was okay. Nothing for the suppose to be (san marzano), best tomatoes in the world. also, i had several cans dented. packed tight in a plastic pkg. and tight in box. where they dented before placed in box, think so. i had a subscription for auto shipping every 6 months. I cancelled it.
