Take me down to the crossroads!
I think it's a nice introduction to the blues! Very well thought out no matter what your skill level! I've only done some of the lessons but I have learned so much already! The companion CD helps big time and really makes the difference so you can hear how things are supposed to sound. The only drawback I found was I had to use my computer to play the CD because it wouldn't play on my other devices. I downloaded it to my iTunes library so I can listen to the tracks anywhere now! Great job Kevin Rones!

Packed full of great information!!!! My ukulele playing has really improved since I started using Kev's books.
I love Kev's books. He includes so much information, including historical background with plenty of real world examples in different keys, with amazing graphics. For visual learners, this book is spot on. The included cd with backing tracks makes practice time enjoyable and promotes faster learning. Might be better for those who aren't absolute beginners. Kev has others books for getting started. For those wanting to get started learning blues licks and searching for a starting point, with book will have you quickly up and jammimg.

No good
If you’re good enough to use this book and cd, you don’t need this book and cd. I wasted my money.

Ukulele blues
Good book to get you to understand playing the blues, but not as in depth to get one to fully understand

So good they should have named it twice (with apologies to the song whose title I have messed with)
Without doubt this is THE definitive guide to ukulele blues. I generally disparage phrases which describe books as 'the bible for.....' but this book really is the bible for blues on the ukulele. Indeed, many guitarists could find great value in it. Indeed, one of the noticeable and strongest points about Kev's style is that he repeatedly references guitar styles and guitarists whose approach to the blues has created all the cliches and standards which underpin virtually all blues playing. He does this knowledgeably and smoothly and clearly applies them to gCEA tuned ukes. There is no sense of him water-down the approaches nor making them wishy-washy nor turning them into quick riffs which simulate blues. Instead he dives straight in and explores a whole wealth of approaches to uke blues. All examples are written out as both tab and notation and the CD provides audio examples of pretty well everything. As you can probably tell, I'm a REAL fan of this book. I think it's brilliant. I've uploaded 4 photos of pages but have obscured their contents to some degree as a way of protecting Kev's copyright. Note that one of the photos is of pages 8 and 9 which come very near the start of the book. Kev doesn't waste time with all the usual tutorials about how to tune your uke; how to hold it; how to strum it or how to look after it. There is an assumption that you already know your way around your instrument. If you require more basic instructions and introductions then Kev has written two other books in this series: Quickstart Ukulele 101 the Fun & Easy Ukulele Method Uke Bk/CD (Kev's Quickstart) Kev's QuickStart: Fingerstyle Ukulele Both of those do start with basic introductions to the ukulele but even there, Kev doesn't overdo things nor make them seem over-simplified.There isn't a lot more for me to add except to once again applaud Kevin for writing such a superlative exploration of blues ukulele. Full of useful stuff.
When the book arrived it seemed rather a thin volume for the money, but it is full of useful stuff. It doesn't waste a lot of space on unnecessary basics like how to hold the instrument, as some books do. It gets straight down to business and each page takes you forward in an easy-to -follow, constructive fashion. I haven't actually needed to use the cd, and I'm quite impressed with what I sound like now! Concentrating on the basic techniques and tricks of blues works much better for me than learning a few selected songs.

Quality’s blues tuition.
This is very good. It does what it says. It adds a new dimension to your uke playing and it’s clear and easy to follow. You don’t have to have it, it it does make a difference.

Very good book.
Very pleased with this book & CD. Although I am having a few issues with getting my arthritic fingers to go where the book directs them it is helping me improve my playing. My only issues are that the book won't lay flat and I have to use a bookstand to keep it open at the right page. The other one is that there is no warning that the CD tracks are changing so I really need to concentrate. Otherwise it would have been the full 5 stars.

Easy to follow
Clear instructions in a small range of keys, but pretty basic.
