This fan is beautiful, elegant, classy and quiet. When it arrived I was surprised by the weight of the box, much heavier than any other fan I have installed. Even though it looked like the delivery company tossed this out of a helicopter a hundred feet above my house the quality packaging kept everything safe. The picture on the box was of a completely different fan which did give me a moment of panic but from what I've read, they use a generic picture on the boxes. Unpacking and organizing the parts I could tell this was a worthy purchase as everything is solid and quality built. Installation was a breeze. I have read other reviews and agree with the most common installation problem: Installing the heavy cover over the fan motor. First off its heavy! Second is you can't screw the screws in unless perfectly aligned. My solution (and others here) was to use an awl to center the screw hole, the small point slides through easily even if not perfectly aligned and a little wiggling and pushing with the awl will force the holes to line up. You can also use jeweler's screwdrivers to align the holes and hole the cover up while screwing it in place. The instruction booklet was for a completely different fan as well but there were a couple pages inserted in the booklet that were all that was needed. The booklet was a generic installation guide which had all the warnings and safety information about fans in general. Despite what others have said about the instructions these were not very hard to understand. Something unexpected about this fan was the wiring, the remote control unit was pre wired into the fan saving much time and effort over having to do it myself. You only had to hook up three wires; hot, neutral and ground. The wall switch was easy to install and works great. Many reviews state this is a two person install because of the housing being heavy and getting it lined up but I was able to do it myself. One feature not mentioned is that the light is dimmable. To dim the light you just hold in the light button on the switch and it will dim. I'm very pleased by this because I really didn't want to have to rig up a dimmer switch or completely replace the switch and remote in the fan. Compared to fans you can buy at Home Depot or Lowes this is a lot more quality for a much better price. Buy it, you won't be disappointed...

I purchased two of these fans because I have an open floor plan of living room and kitchen. Due to a fire last Halloween, we lost everything inside of our home. We’re just now moving back in and starting from scratch. I searched for days on Amazon and finally settled on these. They looked great in the pics. The electrician who installed them just left and I couldn’t be happier! They’re darling fans. Very unique. Not something that everyone will have. Not only are the aesthetically pleasing, but they work amazing. No sound at all, and the different speeds are incredible. The amount of air and wind these things can produce is crazy!!! Cools a room or a space right off. Could not be more pleased with this purchase. If you’re looking for something that is a little bit country, a little bit whimsical, a little bit modern and a lot bit classy, look no further. Even our electrician LOVED these. He’s never installed anything like these before. Super super great purchase. They arrived on time, well packaged and they’re everything the add on Amazon claimed, and more.

This fan is constructed very well indeed. Quality is superb. Not easy to install at all. takes two people. Instructions are weird in my opinion. I had to reread them a few times to make sure I understood them. The fan is georgeous but I felt the blades were dull looking. They have no sheen at all. This is just my personal observation and preference. Dont get me wrong, the blades are made well. Remote is cool but I would not call it a remote. its just a glorified wall switch that happens to be wireless. If you buy this fan I would get it through Amazon because if there is a problem (which there should'nt be as the unit was packed perfectly) they will be there to help. I have dealt with Lamps plus before and I was not very impressed. All in all you should be happy with this fan. I would buy it again. Update 05/31/12: having used this fan for a while i must say it is fantastic! Very quiet. looks great as stated before but everyone that comes into our home is amazed with this fan! wireless wall switch has worked perfectly. This fan really is a bargain considering the build quality which is the best. i have changed my rating from 4 to 5.

Beautiful, high quality fan! Looks terrific, works quietly at all three speeds, and instantly adds class to any room. The fan arrived within three days of placing the order (it might have helped that we're practically neighbors from the shipping location), and was amazingly well packed. The installation went well and was made even easier because this fan was replacing an older one. As for the instructions, well, it helps to have studied Swahili. Or any other language, for that matter. In spite of that, it was not all that difficult to follow the steps as outlined in the instructions. With a modicum of common sense, one can easily decifer what the translated words are trying to say. The installation process is, indeed, a two-person job. But more than that, it also helps to make the right gestures with ones mouth! Our fan came with a wall remote control which I installed AFTER I installed the fan to make certain that the remote wasn't left in the "ON" position as I tied the electrical wires together. Everything installed in a straightforward way and the only real challenge was the lower (actually the only) fan housing. This part of the installation would have been made easier if I knew how to fly a helicopter. At night. With no instruments! Aligning the four screws has to be done all at once (or so it seemed at the time). I used my head and got a longer screw to temporarily hold the housing in place at one end while my wife held the other end up so I could get the first screw in place. After that, it was a piece of cake. The wall remote installation was a snap and it was sheer joy to push the bottons and make the fan/light go off and on. This fan does have a dimming feature which is activated by holding down the "Light" button on the remote. This fan was ordered from Amazon and was shipped by Lamps Plus, a great company which supplies great products! I would recommend this fan wholeheartedly!

I love the fan. The directions are really bad, as the terminology they have in the directions doesn't match up with the terminology on the one page sheet of paper that lists all the parts. Talk about bad! I also had to figure out on my own the proper sequence of installation for each of the main parts. I had a ton of frustration with the main body piece. The screws not only have to fit through the initial hole, but they get caught on an inside groove, so my arm was burning on fire, trying to hold it to the ceiling, while I was trying to get the screw to catch correctly. It even led to a slight chip on the frame, which really made me mad. I finally figured out a trick, which is probably too hard to explain, but I can tell you I used a ton explicatives trying to get this thing up. I then used one of those pen markers, and you can't even tell the small chip occurred. With that said, my wife and I love it. It's very quiet, it works great, and it's a beautiful fan. The wall remote works great. So, if you hire an electrician, you'd probably give it a 5. If you install it on your own.........your score may leave something to be desired at the end. I think I was pretty generous. The company that sells this really needs to get their act together in regards to the instructions. Having different terminologies is really bad.

This is one beautiful fan. Definitely has a farmhouse vibe. It’s heavy and 2 people are needed to install. Very well made. Note: there is a “learn” button on the remote. If the remote isn’t working after the install, turn the light switch off, then turn it back on and depress the “learn” button until the lights blink. May take up to a minute. Then remote should work.

We love these fans and are installing a pair in our recently purchased home, having had a pair in the last home. They have a unique beautiful design, and are whisper quiet. I am not a color expert, and don't see all sorts of different hues in this cream colored unit, so I don't have that problem. For a DIY one man install, this fan does present some challenges. The biggest is attachment of the canopy to the mount; two 10-24 very short screws mate to holes on the mount on each side of the canopy right even with the ceiling. I replaced these with 3/4" inch socket head screws and found the work MUCH easier.
