Painting Garden Birds with Sherry C. Nelson

I bought this book because I have recently started painting again and wanted some additional instruction. My first project out of this book was the Downy Woodpecker with the tulips. I followed the instructions and the photos in the book, I did not have all of the colors she used so had to improvise a bit but I think my painting came out pretty good. This helped me quite a bit. I did notice on the tulip instructions, that the instructions ended with the leaves and did not talk about painting the stems of the flowers, but it is not hard to do using the photo.

I am a big fan of Sherry Nelson's bird painting. This is an excellent book if one is interested in learning how to paint garden birds. Thank you.

I obtained a copy of this book from my local library. Upon reviewing it, I decided I wanted my own copy. The pictures of birds are beautiful as well as the flowers and trees. The author gives excellent instructions. I am some what of a beginner, so I am thrilled to have this book and would highly recommend it.

Content of this book is good, but since I purchased before a hard cover edition of the singing birds book, I found this other one with lower quality... images and text too small, can’t keep opened in one page you need to somehow 'break the back' to stay in one page...., again, comparing against the singing birds book ....

It arrived earlier than schedule. I am very pleased.

I purchased this book and I have not been disappointed. Clear concise instuctions, list of supplies and also patterns to use for the beautiful birds and flowers. I am so glad I purchased this book. If you want to learn how to oil paint birds and make them look realistic with feathers and all---this is the book. I love to oil paint but I am bad at drawing. This book also includes patterns for each project. I am going to paint all of the projects in this book because they are all so stuning.

Sherry's book is incredible! Until I picked up this book I never really thought about painting birds although I love to birdwatch. Now I am hooked on drawing and painting birds. I love trying to recreate all the little details that make Sherry's paintings so awesome to look at. To me the book is worth 10 times what I paid for it. I originally found the book at our local library. When I purchased my Kindle HDX recently it was a no-brainer which book would be my first e-book purchase. I can now take this wonderful book wherever I travel and paint and or draw to my heart's content!

This is a very nice book about painting birds and gives very good directions and pictures on how to do this. There are drawings you can trace on to your canvas or whatever medium you choose and gives detailed instructions on how to do all the intricate details in the paintings. It also gives you the colors to paint each different bird and also the flowers. Very helpful.

Although the instructions are for oil painting, they can be translated to acrylics. Beautiful book and clear instructions.

Good book , love the simple step by step illustration easy to follow.

Libro molto interessante, peccato che non è tradotto in italiano! Sarebbe stato perfetto e avrei sicuramente messo meno tempo nel fare la traduzione del testo.

explications claires et nettes ( sauf que c'est en anglais mais les peintures sont tellement nettes que les textes sont presque inutiles.les deux bouquins de Sherry Nelson une merveille pour qui aime peindre les oiseauxsupers!!!!
