Piscifun Salis X Baitcasting Fishing Reel, Round Level Wind Trolling Reel with 6.2:1 Gear Ratio, 37Lbs Max Drag, Stainless-Steel Bearing for Inshore Saltwater Fishing

I bought this for large striped bass, hybrid Wiper and catfish. I own a chaos xs series reel and two different piscifun baitcasters. I pulled this reel apart right out of the box and oiled all the parts, spooled it up and mounted it on a rod. The lever drag is easy but crisp to run. The action is so smooth, the bait clicker is loud and easy to use. I know it's a trolling reel but I lined it with 20lb fluorocarbon and 2oz of weight and it casts like a dream. A small half hearted test cast in my yard and I had to stop it from hitting my brick wall probably 60 feet away. Highly recommend this company and this product!

The Salis X is a beautiful beast! The 5000 is shown here next to my Chaos XS 50...Reel is smooth as can be. I know that it is not a *Casting Reel* it is a *trolling reel* but I just had to try it out..I spooled it with 80lb black Lunker Braid..It held the entire 547yrd spool. I mounted it on an 8' Heavy action RL SuperCat..I had my normal 3oz lead and cut bait rig on and let it fly.. To my pleasent surprise it was a perfect 75 yes cast..Of course, being an unexsperienced Baitcaster I wadded up the next cast, popped the 80lb braid and slung the rig and bait across the lake 😱.. This is waay more reel than I will probably ever need,but I just had to have one.. Someday I hope to put it to the deep water big fish test.. If I had gotten the 3000, most definitely I would put in my regular, bank fishing Catfish rigs. PISCIFUN ROCKS!

Good reel for the prise

I’m a kayak and small fishing boat trout fisherman and I wanted to run a second lead core line. I’ve bought Piscifun products in the past several times and have always liked them so when I needed a reel big enough to hold 300’ of lead core and another 100’ of monofilament line. I was happy to find the Salís 5000. I’ve gone fishing with it and it is comprable to my other lead core setup which is a Penn level wind 30 but, my Salís was about $60 cheaper. I also feel changing the drag settings are better on the Salís. I don’t regret buying either reel but if I were to buy a third I would buy the Salís because it’s cheaper and has rings to attach to. The only conn compared to the Penn reel is it’s a little heavier but not enough to bother me. You may notice my Penn is right handed and my Piscifun is left. That’s not an accident when I paddle kayak fish it’s so both controls and handles face me. One plus to Salís is the retrieval rate is faster than the Penn and being right handed that helps a lot.

Got this really for bigger game fish, so the first thing I did was pick it apart (I couldn't put it back together myself, I had to contact Piscifun for directions). The reel holds its stated line capacity and I have 500 yards 80lb braid with about 3-5 yards 80lb fluorocarbon leader. I have this reel on a 13ft Penn Carnage II rod, this combo is quite heavy but that's what I was expecting, and the reel is quite compact for its line capacity. Unfortunately the drag is either light or heavy and take a sensitive touch to adjust. With that being said I'm looking to buy 3 more of these and maybe 2 of the 3000 size, my only wish is that is had a higher drag capacity, and the level wind gears were metal instead of plastic. Line retrieve on this reel is also good, it's not too fast and is also has an instant anti reverse bearing.

Mounted this reel on a new rod added it to my trolling spread, and went fishing in the Keys. Clicker worked normally for about a half hour and then failed 100%. Seemed like little parts were shed into the reels gears, and it stuck solid a couple of times as one cranked in the line. After a few times jamming, the reel seemed to work again, but the clicker never came back to functionality. Worthless as a trolling reel, with no clicker. Had to go back to an old Penn 309. 30 years old Penn and that clicker still worked! Other than that fatal failure, I liked the reels design and the drag worked as it should have. I am past the return date because the fishing trip was for a couple of weeks. Wish I had purchased a different reel.

The gear ratio for a reel this big is insane, it reels in very smooth and super fast and also has a very strong drag as well so I will definitely be buying a couple more of these reels in the future

A very decent trolling reel that does what is is expected to do. It is definitely not a Shimano, but the price is not either. Like other buyers, I have my reservations regarding the plastic line guide. I suspect it will not last with time. Too bad this reel has one speed only, definitely a fast one, which is convenient when you reel in your line without fish or with a small one. More difficult when you catch a big fish. But, as we all know, this does not happen that often, unfortunately... So at this stage, I recommend this product. Let's see with time

I had a Shimano Tekota A 600 before. Only used for one year. The plastic gears inside are all gone bad. Only two bearings inside! This 7 bearings Piscifun Salis X 3000 is much smoother. My friend has it for 6 months still working great!

Used it for a long weekend fishing trip was fishing down to 1200 ft with 5lbs weights and preformed perfectly. No issues whatsoever

It was bigger than expected, but I love it so far. Very smooth.

For 113 delivery no tax in quebec, there is a ton of value here, very well crafted and made. Again a great deal, if I had to price this reel blindly, I would put a 295.00 price on it.
